I couldn't find a decent priced preassembled MCW462-UHT, so I got the water block and conversion kit. It's amazing just how much some sites will try to rip you off because a product has been discontinued by the manufacturer. I saw this product for $110 and up to $230 (SwiftTech had it for $80 but is sold out).

Here's a couple of pics of the cold plate and the water block:

As you can see, the reflections aren't the greatest which concerns me about heat transfer. Considering the amount of heat generated by the TECs, I want the greatest amount of surface area contact possible. Should I lap these 2 pieces?

Also, the MCW50-T only came with instructions to mount to a card, but with no description on how to disassemble it. I'm guessing that we want copper touching the core and not neoprene padding. :hehe: I'm going to SwiftTech site to see what I can find, but if anyone has a guide or knows of a site, that would be great. Here's a pic of the block as packed by SwiftTech:

cut the neoprene in a square around the area that would touch the GPU.

its pre-cut.....just use something small to pull it out. you can also use that small square to place on the backside of the vid card if you wish.

I wouldn't, swiftech Laps thier blocks with this crazy machine that does a really good job. Might not be reflective, but I assure you, it's flat.
