View Full Version : Would this be a mobo issue or do I need more Vcore?

So nI started OCing. Went to 1.6V core (DLT3C 1800+) and 10*200. Worked fine. 10*214 worked fine. Went for 10*225=2.25ghz and it froze to a black screen after saving BIOS settings. I REALLY think its my NF7-S now but it sucks because I've re insulated this 3 times already getting it to work...
Does it sound like my board or would I need more Vcore?
1.7VDD
2.9VDIMM
ram divider as it wont go over 205 fsb no matter what...
I REALLY think its my board...
1800+ maxed around 2.3
2100+ at 2.3
barton at 2.2
Never got it over 215 FSB...
I'm back at stock now because my lunch is almost ready but I'm gona give it another go soon... The thing that sucks is I got reinstall all my crap because I got reformat with a new mobo. New NF7-S maybe? Its almost christmas and the LAST thing I want to do is reformat... Especially because I'm getting KoTOR and CoD :p:
Should I try VDIMMing and VDDing my 8RDA 1.1 and throw the chiller on that? DLT3C with 1.6V at 2.25 ghz with -19C water and a chilled NB with 1.7V there seems REALLY sad to me... Its a rev 2 board BTW... NF7-S
Thanks. Off to eat :)

Did you up the Vcore as you increase the clockspeed to 10 x 225? you should...
also NF7 v2.0 boards tend to not boot from a saved bios setting at certain FSBs and vcore. Simply turning it off and then start it again, it'll kick back to default setting and just simply hit "save" and exit outta the bios and you should be able to retrieve your saved setting. This also depends on the bios versions too..
also 225 FSB *might* not boot on some of the NF7 v2.0 boards and the type of CPUs. Some boot fine at 225 or 230 or so. My last one do not even boot at 220FSB until I flashed to some bios and L12 mod..
So there are many things involved what causes to no boot at blah blah blah FSBs..

Well I'm gona give it another go soon. Feel like playing some CS now. I got all weekend :D
As for the BIOS and setup:
D10 BIOS
APIC OFF
CPU interface OFF
AGP and FSB spectrum OFF
AGP 8x
fast writes ON

well, it seems youve got two issues at hand, and you need to determine which it is. You're saying that you may have an issue with your insulation, or it may b e your board, correct?
Well, I personally havent had any condensation probs on my NF7, but as far as the FSB and it not booting or freezing when saving the BIOS, that is very common. At that point i would guess that its your MoBo not liking what you justs et. To help this, you can add vDD. If you are maxed out, and you do not have a volt-mod for the chipset voltage(vDD) then you need to get one. IMO, all NF7 owners NEED the vDD mod, to me, it's a must. :D

I'm maxed at 1.7 VDD now. I also heard D10 doesent like VDD much anyway... MAYBE I could get in there and pencile VDD mod but no way in hell could I solder with the video card in there... I need to VDIMM anyway so I may just practice soldering tonight and than take the VC out tommorow, rest it on something near by and than VDD and VDIMM. Board lives than w00t I did my first 2 Vmods and it lived and it should OC well and if not well than I get the DFI board :p:
EDIT:
where the hell did I say anything about condensation? I've been running fine like this for a week tommorow....

you said something about a problem with insualtion. and AFAIK, insualtion problems means condensation :D
As far as vmods go, just be careful. Dont let the sickness make you think youre good enough at soldering to do it, then fry your board from being naive. i did it, and it sux, so please do be careful.

I know I'm gona practice ALOT before trying to Vmod...
Oh and yea I said I re insulated the board 3 times trying to get it to work and I didnt want to have to do it again on a different mobo.

Sounds a lot like a lemon.:D

Well than again your deffiniton of lemmon is probley any board that doesent do 255+ :p:
lower the multi and then test. Also try the 14beta bios. Thats the bios I have most luck with

I was at 10... I'm not going any lower.

raise the multi.
on my system, i can get to 9x113=1017, and 12x113=1356. dont keep yourself stuck, if you could make the same fsb on a higher multi. i was benching at 1.01ghz for a month, then was like, "why not try it", and automatically, 340+ mhz total... gave me almost 700 more points in 3dmark2k1 overnight.:D
on another note, i can get up to 12.5x117... but thats another story altogeather... ;)
