I want to use a 50x50mm TEC so I can run 12v and still have high wattage.
I am looking at this one:
Imax = 16.1 Amps
Qmax = 169 Watts
Vmax = 16.4 Volts
Delta Tmax = 69 (C)
Size = 50mm X 50mm X 3.4mm
The 172's are 40x40mm and require more voltage (24v), therefore if I ran a 172 at 12v it would give me a lot less than the 169w at 12v (maybe 85w vs 133w).
But, what VGA block will fit a 50mm? The MAZE4 won't, will it?

Ok I was just informed that's not how the TECs work volts wise, they don't exactly scale like that? Can anyone explain?

I don't think any do.....but, you could always mod the hell out of one and make it work if you wanted.

Well what would be the point of 50mm TECs if no one has a block for them??

50mm tec's are used for CPU cooling mainly, and 40mm can be used for either.

Ahh I gotcha....
So tough to find the best block/TEC combo that works on a normal 12v PSU....

I think tehy make 156watt 12V tec's, but I beleive they are 48x48mm.
Swiftech MCW50-T uses 50x50mm modules
Read Major Slaughter's guide on how to do it :) Great thing!

That is not correct, the swifty uses 40mmx40mm ;)
The swifty "has to" have a 40mmx40mm one as it needs to slot in to the grooves. (I have done the 80w-172w swap a while ago)
The maze 4 GPU tec (I have a new one here now) is a bit more flexible in that there is no "slot" or niche to have to put the tec into.
But saying that it does not look as though a 50mm one will fit between the plates because the hold down screws will get in the way. I do not know for sure as I do not have any 50mm tecs laying around, but at first glance it does not seem like it will.

Mea Culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa
thanks mate :)
