ok guys i am being offered a used marine refrigeration unit.
its 12 volts, 5 amps, 60 watts. Not sure of brand yet but its suppose to get a 12*12 inch evap below zero in a freezer.
I wanted to mod this to do a direct cpu cooling rig with a home made evaporator. Are there any threads or links with guids showing me how to go along making the evap and connecting it asnd what flexible pipe to make because it looks exactly like what a prommie has inside and its 12 volts 5 amps which is very efficient so any input would be wonderfull since i am only into watercooling and now trying to move into vapor changing.

I think i would grab it. might make a good chiller if nothing else. I'm new @ this too and have collected 2 window ac's and a 134a compressor in the last couple weeks if its free take it and figure out what to do with it later

Welcome to Xtreme, both of you guys :D
I'm not too sure that there's any one thread here that will contain all the info you're looking for, but there are plenty of peeps here that know enough about it to help you out. Just post everything you can, info wise, about the unit (specs, info off the data plate on the side of the compressor, etc...) and maybe even draw up a small schematic (nothing spectacular, just a rough draft) of what your intentions are with it, and I'm sure you'll get more than enough tips and advice on how to do it. Enjoy the site :D

:D thanx alot its always greta to join a new forums and get such a geart welcome and meet such friendly people:)
i have time to wait i dont have the unit yet so i will sit back and see what others have to say...
I was windering if a chamber with the cap tubing spraying the liquid freon down onto the base then it boiling and getting sucked up into the suction tubing... would it make the base of the chamber subzero?? its just a simple evaporator. I read that you can make a copper chamber and screw a car injector which has been widened to the width of the cap tubing and then runn it like that. and i see some people using a maze waterblock configuration so i am not too sure yet. What is the best flex tubing to use also.
thanx for all the input in advance
