Ok, this is my second A64 chip now and both seem to hit a wall at just about the same speed, around 2280mhz. I'm running a Gigabyte K8NPRO with 1 stick of Hyper-X 3500 memory. I have been able to lower the multiplier and run the memory at 240 with no issues at all so I know the memory is not the problem. I don't think it's a heat issue since even under full load I'm at about 45C with a Zalman CU7000. Adding extra voltage seems to do nothing for stability at all. I've tried a variety of multipliers and FSB settings (10x230, 9.5x240, etc...) ech time I get to about 2280 I get a hard lock. This is with the LDT multiplier set to 2x, although at 2.5 x it runs flawlessly at a 235fsb and 9.5 multiplier.

I am most likely ordering a Phase Change setup from Baker18 here on the boards in a month but I figured I could get this thing to 2300ish on air first. Any suggestions?

Quite honest, you might be at the chips limit on air.

What stepping is the chip??

The first 2 I had that died were CAAMC and they both had trouble over 2200 on air. They were week 41 and week 43.

The one I have now is the older CAAKC week 39(I think). It too was a bit tight on it's overclock until I did some extensive Prime95ing with it at 331Mhz FSB. It now has benched as high 2367Mhz and I'm hoping for more in the coming weeks.

This is still using the AMD stock Heatsink and fan:)

I've got the codes written down at home but I am pretty sure it was CAAKC. I'll post them when I get home and do some prime95 on it for awhile and try to burn it in some.

Thanks,

What voltages do ppl recommend are safe to put through these chips for 24/7 usage if using stock cooling?
