Hello guys,

Just took my Sanyo A/C compressor apart and i have to say a few things.

1. Taking the accumulator of it using a brenzomatic mapp gas torch was HELL, it took ages to heat that copper bulb up...

2. Oil level and its status.... how to comment on it, OMFG ?!?!?!

Some pic flow...

You can see the oil level in the compressor in the canister next to it ... For my eyes theres about 3-4 spoons of it... and its almost black as tar, the flash from my digicam made it a lil more brown...

Is the oil level SO low really ????? I would give it at least 300ml of oil "on eye"....

Dont know about the Sanyos but for the Tecumseh rotory screws they only hold about 12oz on the 3/4hp models. recharge is like 10oz I think.

Thx for the data :D

This compressor has a smaller diameter and it looks as if it will take ~200-250cc's up to the suction line....

So is refilling with oil simply a matter of filling up to just below the suction line then? We have a compressor here that needs an oil change and i ain't looking forward to doing it... it's been sat with pipes open to atmosphere for at least 2 months now! (and we can't get the model no. off it cos we went and painted the damn thing!!! grrrr! - will have to ratch thru all me old pix to find one of it...)

you simply let the oil out and see how many there's inside - i didnt have any chance as there was like 2-3 spoons- preety to low...

Ya oil changes suck on hermetics. Havent had to change the oil on a sealed screw.... yet....

Heh.... i cant get any oil out of these compressors... simply now way, i got furious and flipped the tecumesh upside down (working!!!) and still, NO OIL!!! add 100ml of oil - nothing comes out...

Are you taking the suction line completely off and slowing dumping the oil out at an angle. Not 180o instantly? On all of the small hermetics I usually have to dump the oil a few times. Becuase the suction line goes into the casing not just on it. Know what I mean.
I could probably come back 1/2 hour later and pour some more oil out of it. Refering to work......
