I can't get hold of any copper and soldering equipment, can I use a Swiftech MCX4000 and build up a frame with plastic or anything and use LN2 in it?
I'm a little curious how the alu pins attached to the copper base will react...

plastic is not an option with LN2, it would freeze and be as brittle as paper at that temp.
you need metal.
maybe, make 4 tall walls, welded to the side of the heatsink, going all the way, weld along all 4 edges and the base.

I think the helicoid pins may actually help draw the coldness into the copper base honestly ;)

Thank you very much Kunaak!
Plastic is not an option you say... to bad, I was hoping to be able to reuse the HS for aircooling...

I think I'll search a little bit more for a copper pipe and a base...

Sysfailure was selling some really good LN2 tubes here a few weeks ago, last Pm I had he was preparing another batch.
they are $130 a piece, but they are solid bored aluminum so they aren't gonna break or leak or anything anytime in our lifetime ;)
you might PM him to see if he has a few left.
they are expensive cause theres no welding used, just one solid chunk of metal.
