At least ive put my mach2 back together after they replaced the sensor.

however so far after an hour of testing it, the best evap temp i can get is -47 when in these conditions before (when the sensor was working) i would be getting more like -53. its also dropped to -32 under full load for 20 mins which again seems a little low.

im running a 2.6c at 1.70v on a P4C800 deluxe at 285fsb (3710mhz).

is it likely that it may need some time to settle or something since this is the first time its been used since it got back. However it has been sitting still since it arrived back on monday so it isnt an issue with it having been just moved around.

you should compare CPU temps m8...?

early M2's read a bit lower than the current ones in my experience.

im comparing cpu temps too and cpu temps are a bit worse by maybe 3 or 4c but iv only just applied the ceramique and maybe i dont have good contact.

right now with 1.75v in bios (1.68 to 1.71 in mbm under load and 1.79 idle) its getting to about +1c under prime and superpi load at 3800mhz and im sure it should be more like -7c.

its also the first time ive used ceramique instead of AS3, and the first time ive applied it using their new 'blob in the middle' method which im not convinced about. I did put a small grain of rice sized amount roughly in the middle of the spreader but im still not convinced its better than spreading some out. i know itll take a while to set but theres no way im going to gain 8c from that is there, 1 or 2 at most.

im also thinking if the cpu contact isnt great then the evap temps should be even better than before (perhaps even -55) rather than worse.

by reading lower i guess you mean early ones would more likely read -50 and current ones more likely read -47. This could explain it a bit cos the early mach2 sensors (which are the ones that went wrong for a lot of people) are not being used now, they are using different sensors apparently which might explain the differences. still -47 in fairly cool conditions seems poor to me. infact right now its sitting at -44 and has been idle for a good 10 mins.

im also wondering if this voltage is safe for a p4, 1.75 in bios, mbm shows 1.79 idle and 1.70 load. hopefully it dont kill the chip cos i desperately need every fsb i can get when my mushkin 3500 bh5 arrives friday or ill be wasting a whole lotta memory bandwidth. Unless i buy a new chip and hope it does the right kinda speeds to get near the mushkin limits, and knowing my luck it wont.

well today I got something like -7 load at 4 GHz 1.70V with an EE evap -30. That was on a P4C800 and they all have similar temp readings AFAIK so maybe you do have bad contact there m8...

ill whip it off later and remount it anyway

even more irritating cos i added the last 2 washers to the screws this time just to give a bit more pressure to it and its done absolutely nothing.

at the moment its taking this voltage to get it stable at 290fsb and thats the highest itll go which is only 232 mem at 5:4 and im hoping for more than that outta my brand new mushkin so hopefully remounting it and gaining maybe 6c will give me a bit more, but i doubt it.
