I had just went to "The NEW Efficiency" seminar for Windows 7 this past Monday at San Diego, and got a free copy of windows 7 ultimate. on the back of the case it says "DVD Included 32- and/or 64-bit disc(s) inside" but it turns out to be a windows 7 ultimate 32-bit only. and i've checked this with others that went with me. Now i just spend all this money on a 6GB OCZ Platinum series ddr3-1333 LVA6GK "animals". i'm stuck with the 32bit ultimate so i can't use all 6GB.
I was wondering if this product key that is inside the case will work with a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit edition? if so, dose Microsoft have a link where people are able to download an iso file form them of the windows 7 64 bit and use my own key that i got from them at the Seminar?

Yes, it does. Take a untouched Windows 7 ISO from any torrent tracker.

wait.. but aren't all this torrent iso's all hacked and stuff that don't need no activation codes and stuff. i want to get a legit iso copy of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit so i can use a legit key. i don't know if MS offers a iso file on torrents. don't they usually have a download section as they did for the win7 RC where you could download the version you wanted and then get the key separate?

Microsoft really dropped the ball on this. If you decide to go the torrent route, make sure it matches the official hashes:

This is of course grey area if not outright illegal but Microsoft has offered no alternatives for those that want to use 64 bit media. You do have a valid key so I say go for it.

is the Windows 7 RTM build 7600 same as the retail you get from lets say Newegg? or did MS have something else other than the RTM?

That's it.
Yep, retail version is the same that has been on MSDN since august :) And I can confirm sha1/md5 sums for the above file as well

if any of your friends have a 64 bit win 7 CD (any version) you can hack the ISO and make it any version you want. One of my friends did it for us because we went to the new efficiency just as you did. I have installed it and working like a champ! he said there was a offical MS blog about how to do it as well. The option was there for enterprise systems to be able to use 1 disc for all platforms.

this sorta like how all the vista dvds had the ability to install any version of it but just required the proper key to activate?
~edit you didnt really ahve to "hack the iso" just press a few keys to get into the installation menu and choose the version to install

I honestly can't remember but a quick look over through google got me "all the media is the same but the product key determines what it opens/installs" which is somewhat familar however i thought i choose it out of the listing options when i did my install (but that was ~3 years ago)

with 7 the media is different for each version (or atleast with technet it is), your info is what is correct for vista (it might be true for latter disks also)
the win7 keys all work in the 64bit equivalent (if there is one)
and at the new efficiencies event if u asked they would have given u a form to request 64bit media to be mailed to u. or if u know who one of the presenters was try sending them an email

Anyone have a link to the MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.7.ULTIMATE.E.RTM.X64.RETAIL.ENGL ISH.DVD-WZT.torrent ? Lemme know if this post isn't okay I don't want to get into trouble. I went to that website and it didn't have a link that worked. Here's my post from a while ago with a picture of my copy of Win7. I'm not ripping anyone off I have a legit copy except that its 32bit. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=235235
This is sort of stupid but, the disc (my copy) says 32bit right on the disc. On the back package it says 32bit and 64bit disc(s) inside. There is only 1 disc. If I toss the cd in my drive and explore the cd, is there a way to see if it contains both the 32bit and 64bit installs?
