Well Herefishy is gonna hook me up and mod a Mach II with 404 gas for my 9800XT.
I think it is a good idea for me to start a thread for any questions I might have or any suggestion you guys can gives us.
1. I am in Japan so I cannot get ANY supplies he is going to send me a care package with all the sutff I need to protect it from condensation to mounting it. If you guys can help me on all the thnigs I will need so far I have
1. Dielectric Grease
2. neoprene (not sure on quantity or size)
What Else?
2. Also I will have my CPU cooled by a Vapochill XE (It will change to a Mach II with 404 in the near future)
So I do not want to use another PSU
Me and Herefishy were thinging along the lines of bypassing the Mach II board and connectin the fans directly to my PSU to get full power and to boot up the Mach II connect it directly to the wall and add a switch in the front of it So I would boot up the Mach II then boot my Computer 20 seconds later?
I am sure more questions will come up but if you guyscan give me a hand. I will very much appreciate any suggestion
What I am worried about the most is making sure I have all the required materials to be condensation free and also to mount it
Thanks Guys :toast:

Yes they have dielectric grease there, yes they have neoprene there, in fact they have lotsa stuff that you can find pretty easily if ya look around! I spent a week on leave at Okinawa and its kinda small, so finding stuff that you need should be pretty easy.
Anyways, good luck with your prommy/vapo and later with your dual prommy setup! Sounds killer!! :toast:

I speak NO japanese lol. but its cool herefishy is gonna hook me up if everyone helps me make a list of all the things I require.
Charlie
Thanks man Its cool someone appreciates me working over 12 hours a day building helicopter engine. Do you have any suggestions or comment on my Mach II Charlie?
Thanks again guys hopefully we can get this list going of the things I need and the advise on directly connecting the Mach II to the wall so it can be on its own and wont have to rely on windows.

Hehe, sounds like you are new there! Don't worry, the Japanese are some of the nicest, if not the nicest people you will ever meet!
If ya are single, find a nice Japanese girlfriend to help ya find stuff that ya need
If ya are married, then b/s with some of your Japanese co-workers to help ya out!
Hell, I don't know but a little of the Japanese language but it won't matter, people there will help ya out!! :)

I think I got the list ALMOST good to go
The List
1. Electirc Cleaner from radioshak
2. DiElectric Grease ALOT lol
3. 1/2 closed cell foam for the back of the GPU
4. Square Plastic to keep the foam on tightly with the 2 holes cut out for the GPU block.
5. Liquid Electric Tape
6.Spray Rubber coating
7. strips of foam cut thin FOR around the factory GPU shim. (How thick and what kind?)
8. Artic Silver Ceramique for the core of the CPU AND GPU CORE or should I use Artic Silver?
9. And that spary to protect the card people spray most of their cards with?
Well that is my list guys
And any suggestion for the power of the MACH II? How did mine sound power it manually with a switch in the front. And if so how much time after I power the MAch II should I boot the Computer. Or maybe both at the same time should work okay I dont think the core of the GPU get a chance to get that hot.
Herefishy CAN do anything all you have to do is put in in his mind lol :toast:

MachII can go straight to the wall without relying on windows as it is... just find a small 12v powerpack off an old tape player or doorbell or summat to attach to the molex to keep the relay triggered. Usual cool down time for mine is about 3 minutes from 24hr stand to boot temp, but I have mine set to boot at -40 rather than -33...
I would guess it'll be safe to power both at the same time, as even tho the promi won't be doing anything in terms of cooling for the first 20 seconds or so, the copper slug should be able to cope with soaking that heat off til the compressor gets it's ass movin'....

Thanks Marci
Explain this 12v power pack stuff. why would I need to connect it to the molex since it is going straight to the wall? :smileysex

Yep, just plug 12v into the molex on the prommy and it will fire right up.
This is how I run mine as the reset holding didnt work quite right on one of my boards.
(I use mach1, but the pryncipal is the same)

On sadcat's rig, I just hooked the 115v for the compressor, directly to the 115v connections in the box. I took the compressor relay entirely out of the circuit. When the Mach Ii gets plugged in to the wall, the compressor goes to work. The board / temp display will be powered up by the molex connector to the cpu power supply.
Do you guys plug the Prommies into the 115v accessory receptacle on the cpu power supply? If so, then I guess when the CPU turns on, it would turn the comrpessor on at that time, anyway, huh?
Cheers!
