Title says it all guys. Not that I'm not happy with my P5Q Pro. I was just thinking of something a little different to play with and the Blackops with some DDR3 kinda satisfies my urge atm. So was just wondering if anyne has used the Blackops and what did you make of it? One of the PCI-E slots on the Blackops would kinda go to waste just being used for a PCI-E Asus Xonar.. but I can live with that :p:

get a rampage extreme.that way you can try your hand at modding the bios
on the best LGA775 board there is.,im sure alot of people would enjoy that.

Go ahead and sell off your old stuff and take the i7 plunge ket.
Prices are going down and you can pick up some good deals on for sale threads. :up:

I see no substantial benefit in i5/7. I'm certainly not splashing the cash on a CPU thats only going to give me minimal performance increases. I'm waiting for the next gen chipsets and CPUs. You all just want me to be unsatisfied with the performance of a i7 so I end up ripping the mobos BIOS it bits :p:

ED- Main reason for my foot on the brake is that I don't want to get a i7 board then upgrade it AGAIN 6 months later because of SATA3 and USB3. Much rather wait until those features are out and standard features in mobos :up:

Fair enough. I whole heartedly disagree on the minimal performance comment but your edit makes more sense.

Stay away from the Blackops Ket. It's a dead end board with nothing but gimmicks and a nice look. Like mentioned above, the Rampage Extreme is about as good as it gets and I know you love ASUS ;)

Ah well scrap the idea then. Was just gonna try a new mobo so I didn't get so bored in the wait for SATA3 and USB3 :p:

I won't be getting a REX. I wouldnt mind spending around £180 for a mobo on a NEW platform, but not a old one..

I had a P5Q Deluxe, and went to the BlackOps. I actually had performance gains in crossfire, and a bit more luck overclocking the chip. The DDR3 was a nice upgrade, but having upgraded to i7, it's a substantial jump. Everything is just snappier.

Just some down to earth comments here;
Sometimes, if not almost all the time ppl like use that always want the best and read a lot of tests etc, becomes blind to reality.

Getting a new mobo for a old tech CPU just to get a little bit more performance is waste of money. Either get a i7/i5 setup, or just wait. A few more max FPS means nothing, neither do a few hundred more 3dmarks, in real life usage.

I agree with the guys above. If you are going to get a s775 DDR3 board, the REX is the only one to get. They are still an awesome board.

Ket already said that he didn't want to go the i7/i5 route so when you say "some time ppl...blind to reality', you should have said 'some people read the whole thread and catered their comments towards what the OP wants, not what's necessarily the better option'. :yepp:

Plus, this is XS, those extra high FPS and 3DMarks do count ;)
