I have regulary checked my Preorder for Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Swe for any last minute changes but were suprised when I noted it as delivered today:yepp:

The Swedish Release Party in the "Tekniska Museumet" aren't before the 23 of October but at that time I should allready have it in My hands.

After I have used the Betas for almost a year I'm very curious about any changes in the Retail version but I expect just minor changes.

Do any of You got the Retail version allready?

With that pricetag I'm certainly happy not to upgrade to often:rolleyes:

Regards Jonas.

Does <sic> any of You got the Retail version allready?

I don't personally have a copy, but I've heard through the grapevine that it's much more solid than Vista ever was.

I completely completely forgot about Windows 7 ....

And it just arrived today and is now installed .

First impression (coming from Vista) - Wow, that loaded up really really fast!

I just went into devices to configure my mouse, and was surprised to already see the following listed without having installed a single driver:

Acer G24, Deathader, and Saitek Cyborg Ceyboard.

I've installed my motherboard, Catalyst and Intrnet drivers and was about to download my keyboard and mose ones, but it looks like I dont have to.

I didn't even have to install mobo chipset drivers for my P55 setup. That suprised me. lol

I installed win 7 on my laptop yesterday with all of my programs and got the OS installed on my desktop today. This is what vista should have been. It is very responsive, seems to tie up less ram, boots much faster, and installation was a snap. The only glitch I had on my desktop was the Realtek NIC driver on Gigabyte's site is no good. I had to go to Realtek's site and download the newest driver from them. I also really like the way MS finally reenabled using themes in windows and the way you can categorize wallpapers. I like the way the control panel is setup, and even the snipping tool is a nice addition. So far this looks to be a winner.

I dont think I had to install them either, I just did because you normally would. Oh yea, and I needed the sound drivers too.

Agreed. For my gigabyte mobo I just stuck in the CD, install all software, and a few reboots later everything including the sound was working. I already had the catalyst drivers downloaded from when I got my cards.

I remember when I first got Vista .... It wouldnt work in anymore then 16 colors, and my internet drivers wouldnt work at all and I had to wait 6-8 months, then it became ok. I'm still using the same netgear WG111v3 adaptor that I've had for many years since win XP now, and the drivers on the CD still install and work which is exactly what I need for the internet drivers (cant install them if the CD doesnt work, since you cant download anything).

Win 7 hardware compatibility really benefits from all the time it took Vista drivers to stabilize, since the drivers are mostly the same. It reminds me of when Win 2000 came out and there were no drivers for anything... not even buggy and broken ones, just none at all. But, things were pretty good by the time XP was out.

Well I've run into one bug that has me really ticked off. I have read through probably 40 different posts, searched all over online, tried several different players, and no matter what I do or what setting I try in Realtek audio manager, I cannot get 5.1 channel sound whether it is from an MP3, AVI, or CD. I can only get the two front and sub to work-no center or rear. I do get 5.1 however with a DVD. It has to be a driver issue as they all play in the audio manager, but will not playback.

I have to agree on that and the only driver I had to install manualy was for the Wireless NIC D-Link DWL-G510 but the it imidiatly started to running the update service.
Of course it failed when trying to update the graphic driver when I allready had Catalyst 9.9.

I'm running into a pretty ridiculous bug in Windows 7 Pro. I'm not able to complete a backup or create a repair disc. When I try to create a repair disc it immediately comes back with "System repair disc could not be created" "The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057)".

When trying to backup my system I eventually get an error just saying the backup did not complete. When I check the Event Viewer it says:

Log Name: Application

</Event>

I've tried 4 times now. It doesn't stop at the same point either. It just randomly stops after a while and I lose all my permissions on the backup drive.

Looks like Windows backup is still useless.
