I have had some issues with my XP installation but 7 was just fine. The only thing I have had to do was to remove 1 gig of RAM to 3 Gig because the computer wouldnīt boot. Signs of a mainboard going bad? It went from working fine with 4 gig to not working over a day so it was not during some installation or something.
But in XP I got extreme long windows load times after a defrag where my harddrive started chugging like crazy and I got pauses in games when my harddrive performance seemed to come to a halt juts chugging.
But reformatting the computer when I get back I find it has rebooted and hung on a black screen. Cutting the power and then restarting I could get it to continue install windows. Go away since itīs a 40 minute process and when I come back it shows a logo screen I have never seen before. Intel mark and two selections Tab to select option and del to enter setup. But the keyboard doesnīt working. rebooting, clearing cmos etc nothing works. Removes memory try to switch same. Now itīs just black screen nothing else. Video send some signal to the monitor it looks like but thatīs it.
Tried disconnecting harddrives nothing.
Does this sound like itīs the mainboard acting up or could it be the video card. But why would that decide to die just as I reinstall an operating system. It got all the chances to die on me while running mass effect...
Bad CPU could it cause such problems. Would be slightly less a pain to exchange that but I ainīt that rich I can just buy hardware left and right.
Also is there a more efficient way of clearing cmos then using the clear cmos button? But as mentioned that went from at least some picture to no picture...
