Ho far were you able to push your vcore on your SOC?

I had some family things to attend to, and when I saw 5 o'clock as the deadline, I didnt even bother with mods. 693 core 1303 mem was the best I could at stock volts and cooling.
But I honestly hope that they take the results of you guys like George, ones who did a complete bench session.

Although I am sad, that I personally should have been finished a week ago and should have gotten at least some to start with HW, but no, I got *******, had to by the gear I didnt have and yesterday test it, only to fail today.
For me, it went something like GPR-remix - "Buy it, if you care."

What almost forgot to say : WTG James! And respect to Elmor for keeping the default HIGH presets :toast:

EDIT // Massman? Where are your guns? :D

I might have killed my card about 4h (I think?) before the contest ended. The VID mod was alright, I just had issues booting up. It seemed like the OCP was kicking in after X seconds for no apparent reason.

I did learn a lot from this first round. In particular that I still have to learn how to bench 3D with LN2.

Btw, I did upload a score: http://hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=913201. The RE5 benchmark kept on crashing at these clocks though, so I had to upload a really crappy one.

It was a beautiful competition, but needed little better organization with the counters. We tried a lot in the beginning with the Gigabyte gtx260 SOC which pestered us a lot because it had cold bug in -22. Afterwards we tried the Gainward GTX260 golden sample and after a lot of benches it gave as a very good result in Vantage reaching GPU score 16721 with clocks 1160/1400/2500. The misfortune was that we remained out from LN2 and at the last moment we manage to fit a small cascade in the card playing RE5 at -65 with clocks 1025/1400/2210 with a decent result.
I hope that the November round will be more organized because it is unfair for all the competitors to remain outside of the competition from error time counters. :(
We thank also George for his precious help.

Nice clocks on that GIGA M8....

Tell me........HOW did you managed to feed it MORE than 1.3Volts?... :)

We were playing at 1.6VGPU the vantage and 1.57V the RE... :)

mike
11-01-2009, 09:37 AM
similar way like you did - actually combo trimmer and VID. Changed from six to five and added trimmer. Would allow up ~1.55, but didn't nearly run that high. Vantage is was fine - just RE5 would crash consistently with high clocks. Maybe your extra trimmers for the OVP helped there. Tried 1.593V, but was a no go. Would immediatly crash. Don't rememeber - but maybe at that point I didn't have the OVP on. I should have tried again that high.
Went thru 5 cards here...3 of them SOCs the others GV-N26OC896H, same voltage regulation and memory. Funny thing is they clocked much better expecially on memory, but only for a short while and they'd go out. Best SOC I didn't get until Friday night from a friend in Vegas, his card was doing 1377 on the memory bone stock with stock cooler. The SOC cards I got form the Egg would only do about 1296 and 1323 but would wake up under cold ...wish that counter would have been true.

How did you alter the VID? BIOS or is the 6bit code on the board of the gpu?

mike

How did you alter the VID? BIOS or is the 6bit code on the board of the gpu?

was done via hardmod. I didn't figure it out myself - kept going the totally wrong way - and was helped out by a friend:clap:. I'll leave it up to him to post the mod.

But read in a forum that someone appearantly was able to change VIDs with conductive ink - not sure if that is possible never tired or thought about it

aristidis

For as Gainward GTX260 was much easier to overclock. With two simle mods,
Vgpu and Vmem, we was able to run Vantage with clocks 1160/2501/1400 with no ocp limit at 1.6v core and 2.30v mem. We will try to push it more, now that we have LN2 to sea how higher we can go.:)

We were very lucky with our 260GTX . Inspite of the fact that we run out of LN2 for the Resident evil runs , we managed to save the day with my mini cascade mounted on the VGA .

Hipro5 knows how to "fix" a VGA for sure ... so we managed to take the first and second place . :D
