Why is it that service pack 2 for vista isn't showing up in automatic updates? I guess I could just install it manually, but I'm trying to find the reason why it is acting up like that. It might cause more problems with other updates too, so I'd rather get to the bottom of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It automatically did it for me, though it asked my permission before installing. That damned thing forced a conflict by reactivating the sound card I had turned off, so I had both cards working at the same time and had to go deactivate the one all over again.

You know.. if they are going to update thats all good, but they should leave my damned settings alone when they do it.

Yeah, i know it's supposed to automaticly update, but it isn't for me. It isn't even showing up in Windows updates... I helped a friend a few days ago reinstalling his pc from a Vista SP1 dvd and he did get SP2 via windows update. Anyone that knows how to fix this issue? Thank you very much in advance.

why don't you go to the windows website and look for it?

Yes, I could manually download the update, but I would like to fix the issue with automatic updates. Maybe I am missing out on more updates, because of the same issue, so I'd rather fix the issue itself than using a work around to get SP2 installed

SP2 includes all updates from sp1 pre sp2, just get on the MS website they dont advise using winupdate to install service packs anyways

I DL'ed SP2 manually and had no problem installing it.
I think it was more of a trouble checking all various updates that the DL-service prompted for installing automaticaly before because it was so many of them.
The SP2 comes in one convienient package, but that's history now for I have just three weeks until my preordered Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Swe being sent :cheer:
