with my current setup? 3dmark01
750 Athlon (no OCs)
256MB pc133
MS6330 mobo
gf4mx440 64mb (342/540)
right now im pretty close to my vid card limit and no processor OCs have been done because i cant find a new bios and no programs like softfsb work
3000 is low for 01 but my comp sucks right now
right now im at 2991(look at sig)

update your video card drivers. that should give you some instant points. ;)

and... are ya sure you cant OC from the bios? :confused:

A fresh install of Win2k would put you there easy.
Also 41.09 through 44.03 are the fastest you can get for 3DMark2001, probably 41.09 for your card.

heh... really any 4x.xx series would put him over 3k, as he has some 3x.xx drivers...

Yeah, but they got slower starting with 45.23....
The Win2k will put him there easily though. For one its a faster OS, and two it will be clean.

yea... but if its his only rig... a reformat might not be in question. and im willing to bet it is, since its so bad...
like mine... a reformat of win2k, and dx8.1 would push my up around 400 points probably... but i cant do that... caus its the family computer... :(
some people OC for fun... some people(like me), do it to get the most out of what they have... ;)

tweaking with rivatuner, tweaking windows. I don't really get why you couldn't find the bios on the website, but o well. Have you tried changing the cooling on the videocard? adding a bigger heatsink or fan might do the trick.
You could check setfsb etc for support for your board if your sure there are no jumpers or bios options for overclocking. Rivatuner, drivers, disabling stuff and playing with windows should get you a few hundred points easy.

i have that same card...
all i ever got off of that was 2.8k, but ive learned much since then... i got my card up to like 220/221... let me see if i can dig up that old score... :D

Yeah man I was a major n00b back then too. That card ran 230/230 with no artifacts :D
I should get my friend to give it back to me and break 4k with it in my current setup :D

but... 230/230 with no artifacts? what kind of cooling is that? i dont see how a geforce2 mx400 could do that... i think mine started artifacting at 205/205...
Totally stock. Just a little passive heatsink :) Had 4 6ns hyundai SDR chips on it too.. The way it does it is its a Elsa man.
Oh and its not a mx400, just a MX straight MX.. clocked at 175/166 stock as opposed to the MX400's 200/166 :P

hm... what i have is a geforce2 mx/mx400. stock clocks at 175/166... i suppose that makes it a straight mx... :rolleyes: d*mn driver names...
The cards were basicaly identicle except for the stock clock so drivers cant really distinguish them.

can the mx400 overclock faster?
I had some crappy chaintech mx400 64mb which only did 220/180 for awhile, but it really depends on the card. The core is unimportant on the GF2MXs because they are memory bandwidth limited. Shame because the core volt mod and cooling is so easy. To mod the ram you have to increase the agp's 3.3v :\

some people OC for fun... some people(like me), do it to get the most out of what they have... ;)
But in his case, hes using Win98.....so there would be NO reason to not upgrade to Win2kPro...you get benefeits all across the board.

at christmas ill get a abit nf7-s 2.0 a 2500+barton and 512mb(2*256mb)ram i should be able to hit 8000 with that right?

Get the full 3DMark2001SE v330 and it doesn't give that error. Most of them come pre patched.
If not uninstall/reinstall.

no no no the 2993 is with origonal i dled the new se with the patch already installed from voodoo files.com and it said i need dx8.1

download the patch anyways. the one at voodoo files says build 330, but in the description it says it supports dx8.1. maybe its mislabeled...
