Gee, CCC has a nice, working adjustment for overscan. ;)

Good to hear you got it working, though. What specific drivers were you using for the first two tries, in case someone else has the same problem?

If you experience overscan with the video mode set to 1080p in the Nvidia panel then it's certainly your screen that is causing it.

Check the instructions on your set and see if their is an option to disable the overscan feature.

Some TVs unfortunately don't allow you to change this setting, in which case you will be forced to use the 'resize my desktop' option to effectively 'squash' the image into a slightly smaller res , in order to make it fit within the bounds of your screen.

On my Toshiba for example I have to set the picture mode to either 'Native' or 'Exact Scan' in order to make a 1080p image fit perfectly (or 'natively'). Without changing this setting, the image is automatically overscanned and items such as the taskbar are not visible.
