Hi there I am trying to overclock my sweet CPU. I have E8400 c0 stepping.
I managed it full stable at 3.6GHz, 400x9 with 1.285V and NB 1.22V

ATM I am trying to stabilize 3700mhz with settings:

cpu-v: 1.3V, NB: 1.22V, CPUPLL: 1,50V, fsbtv: 1,22V

I run intel burn test with 5runs, 2 threads, 2GB of ram, every time successfull, but computer sometimes randomly restarts..

I cant stabilize it. I tried to pump up some vcore on 1.325V, and NB to 1.24V, still no luck, resets + I think thats pretty high vcore for 3700mhz :rolleyes :(

Is my chip that bad?

thx

how is your powersupply 12v railings, are they stable???

and try 20x intelburn runs on your processor at 3.6ghz... see if its stable then...

try with higher mch (NB) voltage ... i had about same problem until I increased NB voltage :)

I though it was PSU, so i replaced my psu with Arkangel 850W, and I will try again with 20x runs. I will try advices of both, thanks! will report soon.

its your RAM
losen the timing or increase voltage

I have it stable on 3800Mhz, runned Intel Burn 20x runs, 2500mb ram and 2threads successful.

settings: vcore: 1,320V, nb 1,24V 422x9.

I was trying imediatelly at 4GHz with vcore: 1,3750V, nb 1,38V and no stability, rams were on 2.06V 5-5-5-18. It resets 10 seconds after booting into windows.(i didn't put NB imediately to 1.38V, it was 1,26V and than 1.30V and than 1.38V and no luck).

biasasaja thank you for reply, i guess i will put rams on default 2.1V or 2.2V ?

Ok i will just stay on 3800mhz. It is stable with intel burn test 20xruns, 2threads, 2500MB ram used for stress.

settings: cpuv: 1,344V, nb: 1,30V, RAM: 2.1V 5-5-5-18 ..

I have a problem I just got BSOD, when i wanted to play some video. what gives? What should I increase? I don't understand how can it pass IBT if it isnt stable yet.. hm.

C0 require high VCore

for C0 and 3800mhz I think 1,344V is enough, because It's stable in Intel Burn Test. But i guess IBT is only testing cpu, so what should i do?

What is max TLL and PLL for 3800mhz e8400 c0? I rly want to get it stable in games on 3800mhz =/

Help appreciated.

Ok I put my ram on 1066mhz, 2.1V, 5-5-5-18 timings.. I checked ram with memtest86+ for 9 hours, no error.
CPU is now on 3600mhz, full stable with Linx, 120runs, 2 threads, 3GB ram used for test.

Still getting some random restarts.. Don't have any ideas anymore, than to put back on stock.. :(

Ram works well on 800mhz,... I think I will need to set ram on 2.2V or increase northbridge for 1066mhz. Thanks to nobody for help.

BIOS update for your motherboard in order?

Nukec, there are so many variables when OCing that it's really hard to just guess what may be the problem with yours (all settings disabled that need to be, settings left on auto over/under volting something, temps, etc. etc. etc.). As a rule you should always set your ram to 1:1 and work up your OC until it's stable and is as high as you want it, then set your ram (just the way I've always done it). I've found Prime95 to work rather well over the years for stability testing, but it does take a lot longer.

I've got a E8400 (E0) that runs at 4.0 GHz @ 1.28v vcore (pencil mod though, if I had vdroop it would be up around 1.32-1.35v), 1.4v NB. A lot of the C0's require more vcore for stability. One thing that helped my OC was setting the GTLref.

It's just a game of trial and error, keep trying, Good luck.
