I'te gotten all settled back in and the rigs temps have stablized in my new dorm, and with them only in the 60-70 range I was thinking I could probably push it a little more, but idk how to check stability of a graphics card. Any good programs to recommend?

And I believe only the shaders matter here right? (good goal to shoot for on 260?)

you can try furmark http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/ but it may not be the same stability as gpugrid or folding...

here's what I run my 260 at

and tbh, I got sick of ocing the video for gpugrid with the "error while computing" messages popping up now and then. so most of the time I just leave it stock. but mine are factory oc models anyway, so ocing didn't do much for mine to begin with.

btw from what I've heard it's core that matters on the grid
and I know it's shader that matters on fah.

Is there a 64 Bit version that's win 7 compatible?

And I've got it clocked up to 675/1455/1152 (SSC version's clocks) and it seems to be doing well. Anything I should be looking for?

just need to keep an eye out for errors how is your temps with the fan cooling it
i normally set fan speed at 70% :up:good luck with your oc.

you might as well download evga voltage tuner while you are at it. i think you have to be a member or something.

here's my copy of 1.80 precision tool http://www.scootplace.net/fah/precisiontool.exe

that's pretty high for me.. just watch for errors on your user page http://www.gpugrid.net/hosts_user.php?userid=31797

your i7 log http://www.gpugrid.net/results.php?hostid=45850

your cd2 log http://www.gpugrid.net/results.php?hostid=45745

I use OCCT (http://www.ocbase.com/perestroika_en/index.php?Download) and Furmark (http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/). Both stress the card pretty hard and I have had one pass and other fial so seem to did it differently. OCCT also has CUDA Mem Test as well as 3d and of course CPU functions.

I use evga precision as well. I have only noticed a performance gain with SHADERS only. I have run higher core and memory as well with no difference in production.

So far it looks good. Just going to let it run over the weekend while I'm back at home. I have the fan at auto (Never seen it above 40%) - temps stable at 69C when I left (but the dorm is ice cold - just how I like it )

Is it necessary to bump up the voltage? I guess if it starts erroring out that'd help right?

Haha - nice research. Sadly I can't run it on the c2d again until school ends as it's my school laptop...

PoppaGeek - Thanks for the links, if it errors a WU in the next 3 days I'll test it when i get back!

Infrnl - so is it worth lowering the GPU or just leave it? Currently the GPU and Shaders are locked b/c I figured its just one less thing to mess with...

Thanks for all the help! When I saw this I was really supprised - I know you guys are supporting, but this is crazy! One more reason XS is the best! :yepp:

I start at stock and unlink the core and shaders, then bump up the shaders. on a couple rigs for some reason with the newer boinc and 186.xx drivers my oc started creating problems when they were fine on the older software. I have put everything back to stock except for the shaders on 2 rigs.

When I had them oc on core and mem as well I do not recall it running hotter or cooler. I personally would leave core and mem clocks stock and play with the shaders. You can try messing with the core and see if your results vary. Someone today mentioned that they see a benefit from ocing the core; I don't see it, but I could be wrong.

I have bumped my core from stock 633 to 756 which I think is a good amount and my production is virtually the same. Its up to you though

As one who is about to get INFNL's tire tracks all over my crushed body, I think I would listen to him.....

(Or maybe it's time to get off my dead azz and get the rest of my x16 slots filled on the farm....:ROTF:)

....These guys never cease to amaze me. I still am a relative OC noob, particularly on GPUs.

For CPUs, I stick them at some level I think they can handle, then let them run. If they burp, I turn them down a bit. There is something to say for not having to babysit rigs. I'm on the road a bit and have lots of other stuff to do....

Tortoise and the Hare....

And really back OT, nobody mentioned Riva Tuner? Is that not a good option these days? That used to be a good one.

Bob
