Guys need help choosing
I like the Asus board better in terms of looks and layout
After the MIIF / UD3P debate and the UD3P basically kicking the Asus boards butt I am having trouble deciding.
Will 24 phase be better than 16 phase for 24/7 operation, I'm not an extreme overclocker, not looking to set a world record.
Asus has really drop'd the ball on the MIIF support so I dont want the same thing to happen this time around.

how about Gigabyte P55-UD4 or Asus P7P55D Pro? Much cheaper and also good enough ;)

+1
testing now the UD6 and M3f
the UD6 is really something.. dram overclocking was never this easy
and not very fussy with mem chipsets
and hopefully the new revisions of the x58's will be also.

Asus are getting worst, support sucks look at MF II.
680I Rog had 2 ESATA (I need 2), all later have only 1 (790I possibly has 2, 780I did not).
This new Mobo has 1 also but now only 1 NIC (I need 2).

This is true thats why I'm so reluctant to grab another Asus, The original Max X38 was a stellar board, or mine was...the MIIF as you well know is some what meh at best ( being nice about my waste of cash and I was dumb enough to buy 2) so I dont want a repeat of the MIIF disaster
Cost of boards are about = but price is never a deciding factor when choosing a mobo
waiting for cstkl1's results b4 I choose

I cannot speak for the UD6 performance but I have just tested the Maximums III P55 and found it has better performance than the P7P55D

Man! I'm the same boat trying to decide which board. I was going Giga because of the 24 phases and good reviews but now I saw Sacha's review of the Asus MIII and I'm stuck again.

 +1 Asus Maximus III P55 Striking design, A beauty, Elegant, low profile sinks around cpu. A very clean look. The G.Skill RipJaws match perfectly. Note new memory latches.

Sort of hijacking this thread - but similar question...
I am in more of a budget segment than UD6/MaximusIII. I want a board with SLI/XFire support. But I don't need top of the line.
I am thinking P7P55D-Pro vs P55-UD5. Same price here is Aus. The Gigabyte has power/reset/cmos clear buttons whereas the ASUS doesn't. And 12+2 phase vs 10+2. Neither of these really seals the deal for me - just minor differences.
Anyone have some suggestions? Not enough benchies out just yet to make a defnitive statement based on performance either.
thanks, onthepulse

You do not need Power/Reset Buttons on the Mobo if you have a PC Case.
Having a CMOS Reset on Rear I/O is more important.

Thanks. Was kind of hoping for some point of difference between the boards/opinions either way/bechies/anecdotes.
They retail for about AUD$250 each - which is pretty reasonable without being cheap.
Your thoughts please

I dont understand why the ud4p and similar boards are automatically overlooked. Unless you are going for world record clocks or certain color schemes the higher end boards arent worth it at all in comparison.

For me it comes down to layout. I need to drop in two video cards, a pci-e 1x sound card and a pci-e 4x raid card. The top heat sink on the Gigabyte boards competely ruins that or I would go with something like the ud4p. Looks like I will have to go with the Maximus III (didn't want to spend so much) just to get a layout that works for me.

Haven't heard any glowing reviews yet... And the price difference to the UD5 is very small. Only thing I could really find on the board was this: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=4002450&postcount=8
EDIT: On a related note, I believe that the ASUS P7P55D EVO has the OC remote control like the Deluxe - which is handy in the interest of OCing with a minimum of fuss... And the board claims SATA 6GB/s support. Wonder when this will be operational??
