View Full Version : Asus x58 R2E vs. EVGA x58 Classified (760)?
I'm tearing my hair out because I can't make up my damn mind which to go with. I love my P5E (modded to Rampage) and thus would not mind sticking with Asus but people seem to be touting the EVGA board (not the one with the N200 chip) as the second coming. I'd like to hit 4GHz with an i7 920. I have a single 4870x2 but might CF in the future.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Convince me one way or another. I'm not buying both. :p:
Thanks.

Any board out here will hit 4 Ghz.

Like zalbard said, you will manage 4GHz with any board..
If I was trying to decide between these 2 mobos, I would definitely go for the Classy over the RIIE.
I have heard a lot of people say that Asus have sucky RMA service, so for that reason alone I choose to stay away from them.
The Classified is rather expensive, but does come with 10 year warranty, which is really good.
But I think the Classified would be overkill if you only want to run your chip at 4GHz, this board is for guys who want to push high Bclk for extreme overclocks.
You would be better off saving some cash and going with another X58 mobo like the Gigabyte UD5, EVGA X58 SLI, Biostar TPower X58, Foxconn Blodrage, or even some of the cheaper Gigabyte ones would be good enough for 4GHz.

Hmm... the bloodrage's support is non existant now I thought? Probably RMA too. I once looked at that board as a must for me but since they dissolved the whole team, it doesn't inspire confidence
I guess I should have instead asked: Considering that both of those boards are aimed at the same crowd which one do you feel stands out more and why? Thanks.

Doesn't the RIIE have a 222 Bclk wall?
From what I have seen Classified owners are hitting really high Bclk, so for that reason I would say the Classified would be the better board out of these 2.
Thanks for the input. I finally broke down and bought the EVGA X58 SLI Classified X58 board. I love Asus but it's time to try something different.
Perhaps this will be next. :D
