Danfoss is giving me the run around again with minimum purchase orders and United doesnt stock a lot of the parts I buy.

The latest is a minimum purchase of a 100.00 dollars just for a TES2 00 Orifice.

Question: I havent tried a dual cap setup in a Cascade and im wondering if I really gain anything using a TXV.

I know the TXV will somewhat auto adjust but I have doubts on the effectiveness of this. I have also seen a few examples of very cold 2 stage cascades that dont use a TXV.

So what im getting at is What do I gain going with a TXV that I wont get from a dual cap system?

Cap tube systems are regulary 'colder' than TXV operated since they constantly tend to run in vacuum. But TXVs make for a healthier cascade and take away a whole lot of trouble when it comes to load handling, they also don't flood at idle or have problems with various load handling.

I tried both - TXV & cap tube feeded 1st stage on a cascade. I'll never go cap tube again unless strictly needed :P

TXV pulls the heat exchanger down slightly faster due to it opening up fully and dumping refrigerant on pulldown. Dual capillary is a little more limiting due to its static restriction versus a TXV with a superheat screw but if Danfoss wants $100 for a $10 orifice I'd say tell them to shove it and start playing with capillary.

Yeah thats what I was thinking unless I order extra orifices. The min order is 100.00 but I just dont use that much danfoss stuff so its hard to make a 100.00 min purchase.

How much would another TXV and 00 orifice cost?

the tes2 00 is like $5-7(can't remember) at johnstone for me... do you want me to pick some up for you and ship em to you?
