So tonight I was gonna resub to EVE Online to play with my friends for my first bit of PVP action, and my mate said to get vent. I did, remembering my webcam has a microphone in it which he said would be fine as that's what he uses. My webcam is a Mikomi one, silver and red but I don't know what the model is exactly. But it isn't working. I've got it plugged into my lycosa (the cable won't reach my pc), both the USB for the webcam and the line-in for the mic. At first I thought it was a driver problem as I hadn't installed them for the webcam, did so and nothing happened. Then the Lycosa drivers, again nothing happened. I'm not sure if this was relevant but I was also using MSN to test.
There are 4 options in Ventrilo for me for which mic I want. 1 Default, 2 Microphone and 1 Line in. Before I installed the Lycosa drivers, the default and the top microphone selection would allow me to record audio in msn (although no actual audio was detected). Then after installing them it was just the line-in option that let me try and record in msn. I've tried all 4 options in ventrilo and noone can hear anything.
Help please anyone? I've got no idea what's going on.

do you need to go into your control panel audio properties and select THAT mic as opposed to a headset mic or something? just a thought
