Hi, im looking for second opinions about upgrade of the computer this fall.

This is the current system:
ASUS Rampage II Extreme X58
Intel Core i7 920 2.66, currently running at 4.0GHz stable
Corsair 3x2(6)GB 1600MHz CL8, currently running at 1530Mhz 7-7-7-20-1T
ATI HD4870X2 2GB
2x Seagate 1TB
Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty PCI-E
Corsair HX1000W PSU

This is my "want-change-upgrade" list.
Another 6GB Corsair 1600Mhz CL8 memory = 12GB total
2x HD5870 2GB or 1x HD5870X2 /// 2x Equal Nvidia Single GPU's or 1x Equal Dual GPU card
2x Intel X-25M G2 80GB in Raid-0

So, would you do the same? If not, please tell.

An SSD IMO is the best upgrade you can make. But just buy a single one, RAID0 on ICH10R isn't worth it.

How come? 80GB is to little anyway, so either 2x 80GB or 1x 160GB, 2x in Raid should be faster, yes?

ich10 gets overpowered by ssd's so wont be as big as an increase as it should be, but still an increase... :)

softraid would fix that regarding the fast cpu?! but personally i don't find ssd mature enough and simply not worth the money.

anyway apart from more ram i see no potential of making this machine any faster :D

Must have DX11

Well, 1x 80GB ssd and 6GB memory to start with, then maybe another hdd and DX11 gfx? =)

From the other posts around here, Nvidia will not have a DX11 card out this year, personally I'm waiting for the 58XX ATI series, then I'll see about more RAM, but for now I am happy with my RAID0 300GB Raptors

So i say, in a few months, do the GPU.
