SSD Drives in Raid 0

im looking to buy a few SSD drives, but i heard that there is some issues with raiding these drives. whats the real story on raiding them?

well what are the issues that you're referring to? only problem i can think of is that you won't be able to have TRIM support in RAID setup, but the speed from the array more than makes up for it. i personally don't do it because 1 drive is fast enough.

I'll tell you from experience that RAID0 adds almost zero performance. The only time I've seen it help was with copying and pasting files withing Windows. It helped with nothing else.

yup, that's why i don't do it. it doesn't help access times or anything, because that's nearly zero already. only increases transfer times, which is not worth doubling your money on.

I've seen two of the OCZ agility drives raided together, and there wasn't any problems. But as stated above, raiding them doesn't do much, from what I've seen/heard.

:cool: thanks guys, i really wanted just to do raid 0 just to have abit more space to work with but i mine as well just get one large drive if that the case.

RAID 0 = better sequential reads / writes vs. double the price.

Does your RAID controller support JBOD?

Might be an option if you just want 1 large drive, without the performance increase.

yeah it supports JBOD, now the question is what are the best SSD drive in the 60GB size, not looking to dish out massive amounts of cash for the newer models
