i own a moneual 972 htpc
and i got this adapter for the 24pins motherboard cable:
http://www.bigbruin.com/2008/moneual972s/large/24.jpg
the 4 wires come from the lcd display btw

i saw this and i quote:

The power comes thanks to a 24-pin motherboard adapter. I am not sure why it has to be powered from the 24-pin connection, as using a 4-pin connection would have been more convenient and easier on the cable management side of things. I have powered 7 inch touchscreens from a computer's 12V supply for other projects, and a typical drive connection works just fine.

anyone with experience on this?
any advise on how to mod the lcd cable to a 4 pin will be very :welcome:

Well, unless they're failing to follow SOP, black wire = GND, yellow = 12V, red = 5V. Pretty easy to check by jumping the green wire with a black and checking with a DMM. That verified, cut the wires near the adapter, and crimp some molex pins onto them, and insert them into a molex plug - you can now hook it up to any molex plug.
