I was wondering if anyone here could help me with an issue I am having with my W7 install.
When I goto shutdown my PC using the shutdown icon in the start menu, it goes through the normal shutdown process, and the PC powers down completely, but it then powers up again all by itself!
I have tried googling this issue, and I can't seem to find anything that is of any help, I found one other person that is having the same issue on another forum, but they haven't found a solution for this neither.
Has anyone here who is using W7 experienced this, and if so have you found a solution to the problem?
It is really driving me up the wall, as I have no idea what could be causing this to happen at all.
Thanks in advance

I think the problem might be in your bios settings.
Do you have it setup to turn on with usb devices ?

I am pretty sure that it is, but how would this cause my PC to turn itself back on once I shut it down?
I understand how not having this enabled could prevent me from waking it up out of sleep mode, but surely this wouldn't cause it to turn itself back on after being shutdown?

Actually this setting is disabled in my BIOS..
Find it strange how this never happened with Vista Ultimate x64 when I was using that.

Have you tried reporting it to Microsoft? I have never heard of this happening before... I would think it would have to be something on your computer doing it, but who knows there have been weirder bugs.

No i haven't reported this yet, I wanted to check see if anyone here knew about it first.
I found another person on HardForum that is experiencing this also, but they haven't found a solution neither.

mine did this with a faulty motherboard :/ so try a backup + reinstall first

I don't think I have a faulty mobo, as it does this with both of my UD5's.
And it works fine with Vista...
Can't be done with a reinstall, I have already reinstalled Win7 twice after one of my drives in my RAID0 array failed..
I will continue trying to find a solution, because I don't think a reinstall is the answer tbh.
Thanks for the suggestion all the same though.

Read a few times theres some shutdown problems with the RC, any way you can get hold of rtm? and then use the re-arm until you can purchase?

Hey man,
I can get a hold of the RTM, but I don't fully understand what you mean by using the re-arm??
Sorry for being a n00b!

As I said, this isn't down to a faulty mobo, as I have no issues like this under Vista x64, it shuts down perfectly, it is only Win7 that is doing this.
In what way is your mobos faulty?
I am actually starting to suspect my Logitech G15 v1, as this is the only thing that has changed in my system, and I haven't tested Vista since I got my G15 neither.
I can't test this atm as my processor has been RMA'd and I am awaiting a replacement chip, it should be here by the end of the week so I will find out then whether it is my keyboard.

Ive noticed the same thing (with hibernation) I assume my mouse is turning it back on. doenst really bother me, as i generally run 24/7, and if i decide to hibernate, i flip the psu switch.
Using build 7100, 750i mobo.
incase your pc is sleeping instead of shutting down... tho i'm not sure why lol
check your network adapter properties in device manager and under the power management tab, remove the tick in the box to "Allow this device to wake the computer"
as others have said, try the RTM

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will try the RTM once I get my replacement processor.

I got this issue sorted out.
All I did was close the clear CMOS jumper on the mobo for 10 minutes, and removed the battery, and that somehow sorted everything out..
