wow looks extremely easy. so all you have to do is don't let those two pins make contact with the mobo pins?

shouldn't that theoretically work will all 775 based cpus?

which would be the real benefits? ... one is the core that would use 400 FSB with default voltage ... but any E8400/500/600 can do 400 FSB without touch voltages even going more beyond the 400 FSB .... the gain would then be in motherboards that not to allow "play" with overclocking FSB or not?

Yep. I know a guy with 20 Dell Vostros folding on Q6600's and he pin modded them all to run at 3.0Ghz so a little boost for a non OCing board

ok nice find but i dont see the point but very nice ... just two questions, what tape do you use for pins, and wouldnt pins on the board cut threw the tape when you put your cooler and thighten them, i wonder could you bend the pins ???

I was wondering the same. Electrical tape would probably be the best, thin but with sufficient give!

How the hell did they come up with the idea of cancelling two pins ? ? ? ? ? ?
This is insane and rocks! Great mod!

Problem, can this mod improve the stability after 400MHz FSB? Otherwise, why are we needing it?

Have you ever overheard a conversation between two electronic engineering students? It's like listening to Swahili with a thick Welsh accent.

The mod is for getting better chipset multipliers and better mem diveders to boost mem performence

This mod would be for people that bought a premade computer from HP or other companies that dont allow you into the bios.

hmmm my board is broken so i cannot overclock using the bios so i wonder if this will work?
so electrical tape on those pins will work?

It didn't work with my asus commando + e8400 C0 :\
Is the mod supposed to insulate both pins contact from the board only or insulate+wire them?
i used this black regular insulator tape

I have an asus p5kpl-vm matx board - will my board do 1600 fsb or will the mod work? Thanks guys.

Hmmmmmmmm
So all you need is electrical tape and scissors right? are there any risks of a nuclear explosion?

BIOSTAR G31-M7G DVI LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
FSB 1600/1333MHz
Got one for $45 shipped on ebay.
Gonna try with an e8600 I have that I know will do 4.0ghz with less than stock volts.
For a build for a LAN build for a noob friend (advantage: will not revert to default stock settings in event of a windows crash/shutdown that a bios setting profile might).

worked on my MSI P35 neo 2FR and E7200 pretty nice, brought it from 9.5X266 stock to 9.5X333 stock voltages not to shabby if you ask me

@jar032
People here are totally crazy. They push their stuff to the point where you can smell burning silicon ... and then they start overclocking.
Respect for XS Community!

Someone tested it on a Q9550?
arroyo
02-03-2010, 04:49 AM
Yep I've tested it on Q9550. It works on all 775 cpu. Id depends only if your motherboard supports it. For example Foxconn P35A-S doesn't like BSEL mods. Abit IP35 likes BSEL.

In doing this is there any advantage/difference over merely overclocking the fsb in bios?
BababooeyHTJ
02-03-2010, 12:40 PM
Has anyone tried any stress testing while doing this? Would this pass linpack?
Also, don't most boards adjust the vcc when overclocking the fsb? In which case they wouldn't really be "stock" or "default" voltages.

I just tried this on an e6750 and it changed the fsb from 1333(2.66ghz) to 1066(2.13ghz).
