Not sure if this is the right area for this topic sorry if it is not. I keep getting a call form Cox Cable at least that's who they say they are and they say I need a new cable modem because of upgrades they are doing to their systems or something like that. They say I need to do this with in 3 days and I have gotten this call a few times days apart and it is all ways a recording. What I want to know has any one even herd of anything like this or is this some kinda of BS scam to try and get me to buy a new cable modem.

Sounds like a scam to me. I would call YOUR provider directly and see what they say, my bet is if you called back the number they are giving you they would ask for several things like card number or something like that. I would definitely call your ISP.

I agree. Call Cox cable to ask. Btw, unless your modem is like 10 years old, its unlikely you'll ever need a new one unless it breaks down or you voluntarily upgrade. I worked for Comcast for a while.

Are they moving to docsis 3? I saw a story of a company moving to that. I dont know if it requires a new modem or not though. I think that was comcast though but maybe its more.

Call you cable company and ask them what gives? Dont call the number you are given. get online and look up the local number yourself. If they match then good. If not its probably a scam. You should NOT have to buy a cable modem the equipment fee is like $3 a month and you would have to be using it for like 2 years before it became cheaper to buy one yourself. $3 month is a small price to pay for the insurance of being able to take it back for a free replacement if it ever broke.
