caught my eye.
Actually, on their front page "Western Digital" "Black" and "$47.99" caught my eye since I've been watching the prices of the desktop Black drives.
Well, its a notebook drive. But still ...
2.5 in + 7200 = good for OS drive? Its only $50, I was thinking 2 in R0 might be cool. Lower latencies than pretty much everything except SAS & Velociraptor (and SSD)?
Aside from installing in a case, any compatibility problems in a desktop? I don't see why there would be. Thanks.

nope, it'll work fine
Yep, just stuck a 120GB 5400 RPM 2.5inch laptop HD in my old Prescott P4.
It's cute! and works fine  Actually using it right now.
These would be perfect in a HTPC if you can have low capacity and speed. They make almost no heat.

Many people use the laptop HD in HTPC as they fit the case, reduce power consumption and generate less heat. This all reduces the need for big fans and reduces the noise level. Many iTX systems have only room in the case for laptop HD and slim line DVD players. You can pick up the converts in most PC shops for the power and data cables.

Hey, thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it.
I'm afraid this drive isn't quite what I thought it might be. Found a nice review at legit, the access seems pretty standard, seq read / write not so bad, esp. for nice little $50 drive, but check this out

4k read < 1 Mb/s
that's bad, right?
But, hey, might be a good deal for someone, today only, free shipping, it seems they were much more expensive a few months ago.

You will need a converter for laptop DVD players, the data and power cables are different then their larger PC brothers. Laptop HD use the same SATA cables as the bigger PC drives.
