Would like to find out if I would run into any problems such as not enough power if I connect a gaming mouse such as a Logitech or Razer to a USB port on my keyboard - meaning only the keyboard is connected directly to the motherboard?

Thanks :)

it depends, its normally a bad idea since most keyboards have usb1.1 ports, and u need almost all of the usb2 bandwidth for high dpu and 1000hrz polling

I agree, you want straight connection from mouse to motherboard to avoid any delays.

I see, because I have this Dell multimedia keyboard with 2 ports here.

Thanks guys :)

A mouse will never require more than USB1.1 in terms of bandwidth. No peripheral requires more unless it is used a storage device (ipod, dvd drive, hard drive, etc). Mouse, keyboard, etc definitely do not.

So hook it up to whatever one you want. There will be no difference.

Sure it will work fine, but adding another interface (and therefore latency) into the system when you've spent extra money specifically to reduce latency makes no sense at all. If you can plug it directly into the PC, go that route.

I dunno, I have seen some USB video cards that would choke if you tried to use them on USB1.1... also some Wireless N USB adapters. Neither of them are storage devices ;)
