View Full Version : Mach 2, rebuild?

I was going to build my own SS but then i tripped over a Mach 2 at a fairly decent price. I know a unmodded Mach 2 wont be able to handle much at all.

But my thoughts with the mach 2 unit would be to change the cap tube size/length for 200-250w load. Would the NL11F be able to handle it? Then regas it with R404/507. Im also wondering if it would gain any if i changed the condensor to?

So im just leaving the comp and evap. Or should i replace the evap to or is it okey? Or is this just a waste of money trying to save a Mach 2?

Could i use a peltier with 250w as load dummy?

ummmm, im pretty sure you cant just put any gas you want into any compressor. you need to check what the compressor uses to begin with. im pretty sure 134/290 are interchangeable gases, but to switch to 404/507 would at minimum require a change of oil i believe, if not an entirely different compressor

the nl11f comps in mach2's are good there normally used with 134a gas but most just charge with 404 or 507 (r290 uses mo oil r507-404-134 uses poe oil :))

the evap i would well recommend changing to may be a dunike evap the condencer's are quite small but are still usable with the right fan

i would say if you confident to make the mods yourslef then do it :D

it would be better than buying a fully built custom unit
edit and im not sure about the tec as a heat loader

Yeah the R134->R404 mod i know is possible since both uses poe oil.

How big diffrent would i have if i changed the evap or kept it?
The reason why im hesitating atm is that the evap with shipping and all would be the most expensive part in the phase. So if the originial is decent i might keep it in the meanwhile and just do the other mods and do it later if i want better performance.
