This is a simple of enough question, but easy to get totally misdirected.

The word I am getting about the i7 chips is... strange.

Are people working on those, still going for the dual and quad core intels, or is amd the hot ticket?

I cool Core 2 and i7 with my SS. You can pretty much cooler anything? Just some SS units aren't tuned to handle i7.

ahh, I have been getting mixed signals about the i7. On some accounts, people sounded like they were just too hot to cool single stage and others made it sound like they didn't really respond well to sub-ambient temps.

i7 is not too hot at all for a SS:

My cascades love i7 :) Core i7 is a hot chip but not any worse than B3 Kentsfield.

It depends on the power of the SS and what heat load it tuned for. Also some i7 chips don't scale well with the cold, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that it is "high leakage" chips that scale the best.

hi, i know this must be a dumb question but how can you tell you have a "high leakage" chip..

I just got the never up to try my SS on my I7 setup, I was supprised how well the unit could hold an I7 clocked so high. Trying to get a classified now as my gene maxes out at 229 block :D

If even at low volts it consumes a lot of power. i7 doesn't seem to follow this rule.. at low volts they all consume a lot of power :D

At the same GHz, volts and cooling it runs hotter than normal.
