I just tried.

theres nothing in the bios that I can see related to Vcore or Vdimm.
if it is, its just plain old XXXX out with no values selectable.

theres quite abit to unlock in the KV8 Pro bios, but nothing all that interesting, you can disable or enable certain CPU caches, or disable ECC CPU cache.
other then that, theres not much of anything interesting in there to mess with.

nothing related to Voltages that I can see.

yep i asked the same but for socket 939 neo2 so modders as gfa3 says is anyone able to allow larger Vdimms through BIOS mods or is that just wishfull thinking.

The 1.36 beta bios allows up to +18% vcore. (gave me up to 1.9v actual using a pcpc510) The latest 1.37 beta (which helps with some false start power problems) knocks it back down to +10%. If anyone knows how to mod a MSi K8N Neo2 bios to reenable all options like 1.36 had, please PM me. I'll post this agin in a new thread just in case.

From some of the stuff I have been reading in this post that should be easy!

Bigtoe,

Can you tell me if the P4P800 bios hack that enabled MAM for FSBs over 200 would work with the P5P800? Aren't they basically the same board, whith the major difference being the sockets?

If the P4p800 hack won't work, would it be possible to mod the P5P800 bios to allow MAM to be enabled past 200FSB?

Thanks,

PaperBoy

Hello all...new to the boards here.

I was wondering if Tic-Tac, BigToe, or Kunaak could modify a Gigabyte bios for me. I need more vcore. I havent seen much on Gigabyte bios mods. I'm hoping someone here could help me. 1.7 on the vcore just isnt enough. I use water cooling, so I dont have to worry about temps. I just need more juice.

Hello People, i hope one of you can help my after my odyssey of disappointment. Last december i had buy a finished PC-system. You buy it, plug in and it runs. It runs great must i say - it is a Intel Pentium 4 with 3,4 GHz (Model 550) with a lot of features but i could not change anything in the BIOS. allthing is locked - the builder of this system is MEDION. Them build all of them PC-systems so, that you could not change anything. They save in such a way costs of the support. When you could not chang anything, than you could not destory anything is maybe the intention of them. But, i would like to use my i915P-Motherboard in full! I would like to overclock something the RAMs or change other things - but is it no way for me.

MEDION is offering a new BIOS for this computer. You can download it here: http://www.ttecx.de/data/medion.bin

I had already tried to modify this *.BIN but i had no success. The biggest problem was to find a version of a tool that can handle a 4 MBIT *.BIN. The file is 512 KIB big and i despair already. :-( Your site was recommended by a lot of friends - are here somebody that would like to help me? I would be very grateful for each tip.

P.S.: The motherboard was built by MSI (MICROSTAR-INTERNATIONAL) - it wear the following model number "MS-7091". It is a special version for MEDION - the graphics card is the same problem, it is a "MSI 6610XL" - but in reality is it a NV43 for PCI-Express with GDDR3 - also a 6600 GT. Further it is a i915P-Board with DDR1-Slots and a LGA775-Socket in MICRO-ATX-Form.

Thank you, with special grettings from germany - Tobias.

I'm not sure what type of bios is that. If it is award6.0 bios ...you can use modbin tomod it... if it is AMI bios... afraid no tool to mod it.

But you should know that Modbin 6.....138 is not compitable on most latest bios by manufactures. :toast:

I bought the new diamondmax 10 maxtor SATA 300GB and it isn t recognised at all by the BIOS :( I updated to the latest bios gigabyte has published (F11) but nothing seems to happen. I heard that there is a combatibility problem with larg drives-sil3112-and gibabyte mobos. Anyone know something? Can be fixed with a modded bios? My other SATA drive is maxtor 120GB diamond max9 and is working properly. The 300GB disk has been tested with other systems and works fine. I tried solving this problem with a pci SATA controller but i bought a silicon and nothing happened again. Now i m waiting for another one (Promise) and hoping... Any help would be very appreciated :(

I tryed to mod the bios but there is not much to mod. I couldn't find anything that i needed. Some performance boost tweaks would be great.

I am trying to get my barton core XP-M 3000+ to work correctly with my Chaintech 7NJL6. The most recent bios doesn't recognize the chip (or any XP-Ms for that matter). It will boot, but at a FSB of 100 and a multiplier of 6. Should be FSB 133 and 16.5 for the multiplier. So I guess what I need is a bios that will correctly identify my chip.

I tried the Award Bios Editor (http://awdbedit.sourceforge.net/), but I guess I need an additional plugin for it to recognize my particular bios. Any other programs that may work? Keep in mind I have negligible hacking skills.

Thanks.

well you can flash that modified bios of course but it wouldn't change anything because these strings you edited at the adress "0x0290" are only names for values which are still the same...

Yeah Sao, Re-flash your bios. Do it from a DOS Prompt if u can. Before you flash, Power off, ENABLE Clear CMOS, Flip the battery & go make a coffee. Drink Coffee, Re-insert Battery, Disable Clear CMOS, boot from floppy Disk & flash Bios again. Hopefully you will be Ok.

"physically capable of"

you can change vdimm from 2.55V to 2.85V with the bios ( by software ;) )...
why should 2.85V be the max ?!?

STEvil

because the resisitors, diodes, capacitors, mosfets, and other assorted parts that make up the electrical circuitry of the board dont allow anything over the max unless they are designed to be capable of doing so.

Only the DFI's socket 754 and 939 motherboards are capable of this.

NWEng
04-13-2005, 01:07 PM
"physically capable of"

you can change vdimm from 2.55V to 2.85V with the bios ( by software ;) )...
why should 2.85V be the max ?!?

Because that's all the physical circuitry is capable of delivering. Just because you write 200MPH on your speedometer doesn't mean your car can go that fast, does it? To increase that capability, you may be forced to mod the hardware by adding or changing a resister that supplies the voltage to a given component. Does it make sense now?

emerald

so the question is: is p4p800 by its electrical circuitry able to give ram more than 2.85 volts ?

Only the DFI's socket 754 and 939 motherboards are capable of this.
stevil says indirect no...
do you have some links or so.. where proved information can be found ?

I believe STEvil is referring to the fact that those DFI boards are able to deliver more than 2.85v because they were manufactured to do so. One thing you need to understand is that the bios is just software used to tweak the board. It's not a magical end-all be-all product that can make the mobo do things it's not capable of doing.

I'm beginning to believe that you have a rough and disappointing road of overclocking ahead of you. Maybe stang_man wasn't that far off base....

@NWeng:
hehe.. no, i have vdimm-modded my motherboard and it works well (oc also ^^) but i don't really like the mod and while i was searching for a modded p4p800 bios i found barnacle bills post and i find it really interesting...

It's not a magical end-all be-all product..
yes, right but that isn't new to me ;)

but is it not possible that asus manufactured p4p800 aswell so that it can deliver more than 2.85V but users are only given the options 2.55, 2.65, 2.75 and 2,85 to select per bios ?

(could be that my questions sound a little bit strange or stupid then plz apologize that, my english is not the best  )

Thanks for your efforts. I shot a pm to tictac but I guess he is busy as well. I read over at BIOSMods where Tmod said it is very hard to open up things such as multi options with these bios. But I will keep trying. I really don't know why Asus did this. I mean all this time the multi option was there when the only chip that could use it was an ES. Now with the CT-479 and unlocked downward multis to 6x they take it out.

Anyway, we will figure it out eventually.

Thanks again Tony

Hi there B T :)

Maybe if only for "names - sake", I shoulda dropped u a mail before now, but having not done so, I do hope u are well & Life is good for ya!

Hows that P4C800E Deluxe Bios looking?

Dropped my IC7 MAX3 for this board. My 2.8 Northwood C @ 240fsb 1:1 with OCZ PC3700EB now runs at 246fsb 1:1 :toast:

Better still are the Temps:

Idle down to 20 deg.C on CPU & 20 deg.C on Case from 36 deg.C on CPU & 34 deg.C on case.

(maybe only half a banana as Asus probe & Bios dont match)

Cant wait to get Hipros MAXIMISER on this rig.

A lot of folk rate the IC7 MAX3 as the best Overclocking board for the Socket 478 CPU's but from what I see here, Asus has the edge by 6Mhz on the fsb, yet hard drive access through the same High Point ATA133 controller appears a tad laggier. Have set PCI Latency to 32, same as MAX3. Default is 64! Any ideas BT?

I'm waffling again, my JD & coke needs more rocks & JD so I'm away! :D

Speak again soon bud & all the Best

Hello BigToe..

I own a IC7 ( just the regular. Not -G or MaX III ) and a 2.8 SL6WJ.

Problem is that is clocks like "#¤%&/.. Meaning fsb235 is THE limit for me. ( tried everything, mem divider, volts, pci-lock, game acceleration and so on. )..

Now i found out that im kinda missing a feature in bios called "Performance Mode" or "PAT".. It SHOULD be located just underneath the stuff with "Game Acceleration"..

Would you try to see if you could find something called that, and unlock it ?

Hi Bigtoe. I would ask you if i can flash a bios for a Epox 8KDA3+ on a 8KDA3+ Pro.
The motherboard use different bios. Here the links for the specs:

8KDA3+
http://www.epox.com.tw/eng/products_content.php?ps=224

8KDA3+ Pro
http://www.epox.com.tw/eng/products_content.php?ps=343

The basic difference is the SATA system.
For the 8KDA3+ there are 6 SATA ports. 2 are controlled by the chipset and 4 by a non specified controller (probably Silicon Image). For the 8KDA3+ Pro there are 4 SATA ports, 2 controlled by the chipset and 2 controlled by a Marvell 88SR3020 SATA PHY.

The rest of the specs are identically, also the IO Winbond controller and the Gigabit PHY by Vitesse.

I do come over here but you guys need to understand a few things.

I can only tweak what is already there, I dion't have a bios compiler so adding voltages or ratio's etc will not happen. I can change memory tables etc but normally there is no need...the reason?
most motherboard manufacturers set their bios defaults to tight, this is for review purposes to make their boards look good. all i hvar to do is set what i know is sweet timings to get a good boot wjile overclcoked and the bios is transformed...this is all i usually do.

now, if the bios has hidden options i can unhide, I can not add without recompiling...major headache without the right tools ;)

I do come over here but you guys need to understand a few things.

I can only tweak what is already there, I dion't have a bios compiler so adding voltages or ratio's etc will not happen. I can change memory tables etc but normally there is no need...the reason?
most motherboard manufacturers set their bios defaults to tight, this is for review purposes to make their boards look good. all i hvar to do is set what i know is sweet timings to get a good boot wjile overclcoked and the bios is transformed...this is all i usually do.

now, if the bios has hidden options i can unhide, I can not add without recompiling...major headache without the right tools ;)

can u do what u do best -unhide and optimise my bis please? Id do it myself but I have no clue. Here is a link to my bios, the one with .F6 at the end after extracting the files... please help me out?

bigtoe, how do I enable these options in BIOS, I see them in _EN_CODE.BIN but somehow they don't show up in MODBIN6 :(

DRAM Bank Interleaving

Burst Length
8 beats
4 beats
2 beats

Enable All DIMM slots clock

Large Memory Simulation
Disable
4GB

And I'm not sure about the following settings :

Bank Interleaving interlock
At Least not
All Present are ???

Node memory Interleaving
Node Interleaving interlock

I'd like to enable Burst Length option cause my board freezes when I disable 32 byte granularity...

Thanks Bigtoe. Important question on this bios however. Does it still contain the vcore issue of the original 704? Are all voltage options above 113% been disabled or is that all fixed up now? I have never been able to try 704 because of the vcore bug as I need 123% and it was disabled. I hope to hear back from you soon and with good news that all voltages are selectable again otherwise I will have to do without. Thanks.

Hello,

New here, but I caught the request for a linky to original BIOS.

asus a8n sli premium, I grabbed up the 1006 bios because I was having stability issues with the latest nvidia chipset drivers

http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket939/A8N-SLI%20Premium/A8NSP006.zip

I remember reading that this guy has vcore up to 1.65 but with my a64 sandy I only see up to 1.55, makes my peltier sad

the new 704-2BTA BIOS sucks for my set up.

I have reversed my VX to the worst combination

i.e. 3.2v id get 245 winmemtest stable when memory is in good order, 235 when in bad order (swapped) this was with 704-2 original.

Now with 704-2BTA I cant get 230 stable with 3.2. i think im going to go back

I am modding the bios on my emachine w2888. Really, the modification is only to replace the oem string with the retail string so that I can upgrade to the latest retail bios for my board. the problem is the bios is locked, and is refusing all attempts to flash. Even recovery mode won't touch it.

bigtoe, can you recommend the best way to "ask" Asus to release a multi-supporting bios for the P4GD1?

Its my impression that you sometimes have something to do with the release of new bioses and I thought we might benefit from your experience...

Which email-addy should we send our distress-call to?

PM me if you have anything useful to say about this.

Hi Bigtoe,

Can you modify this ASRock K8Upgrade-NF3 BIOS

http://www.asrock.com/support/bios/K8UNF31.10.zip

for it to have the VCore option always enabled coz its grayed and disabled for Processors without Cool-N-Quiet feature.

Thanks and more power!

Bigtoe I just found out on another forum that dfi is not going to fix the issue with using higher than 113% on the nf4 boards. Do you know what caused the problem? If so is there any way that you can fix the issue?

UPDATE.
I found what the issue is and I was hoping you might be able to fix it since dfi is not going to and with my x2 this bios is only one that runs good with my system. The problem is stated here in post 32:
http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16500&page=3&pp=15&highlight=wrong+voltage

"The bug of 7/04 bios is this bios will program "CPU VID Special Control" first
before setting protection to cpu voltage ...

If you set "CPU VID" to a high voltage , EX : 1.55V then change to a low " CPU
VID " and a high " CPU VID Special Control " in the same time , hit the save and exit ...
Before the bios set the " CPU VID " to low voltage , the "CPU VID Special Control"
will be programmed first without protection and may generate some core voltage
like 1.55V * 1.36... Although it's a very short period , but If the cpu can not
handle this voltage , the cpu will be dead ... Especially 90nm core cpu ..."

My P4C800 E Deluxe Bios offers me a range of 1.3750v to 1.9500v!? This is version 1023 from Asus site. I can't see it being like this for me just because I have had a 2.8 Northwood in earlier. The Bios has been reset several times whilst trying to OC my new 3.2 Prescott. Shes running 255 fsb (4.07Ghz) at 1.55v and is Prime Stable. Air cooled using T.R. XP120 with 1400rpm vantec 120mm fan, Idle Temp @ 38/39DegC, max load Temp 49/50DegC

To be honest, I'd refrain from going much over 1.550 anyway, unless you are Phase Changing to get the heat away. CPU migration starts happening at silly voltages & 1.75v was the max to be safe on the Northwoods. Allowing for a 0.2v over stock to be safe, then 1.55v would be the safe limit for the Prescott, though there may be more headroom with the smaller Die Size!

Maybe re-flashig your Bios would resolve your querey. Good Luck! :)

I'm guessing you can't do sweet FA about it. A close friend of mine has a 3.4 & he can change the Multiplier to 14 on his. Not sure what his voltage selections are, but my 3.2 Prescott is LOCKED at 16 multiplier with no other choice. So, one could assume (even though assumption is the mother of all fuc* up's) that the 3.4 Prescott has something different about it's architecture compared with its lesser siblings. Having said that, my m8s 3.4 will do 4Ghz @ X17 multipler with 235 fsb. Yet when he drops the Multiplier to 14, it will not do ANYTHING over 250 fsb which sets the CPU @ 3.5Ghz? Now that is really wierd and using the mother of all fuc*ups again, one can only "assume" the Chip is falling over on its CORE speed & not the FSB. A lot of people refer to the Core Speed of the chip as the FSB. This is not true. The Core speed of the CPU is NOT the FSB. The Core speed of the CPU is the resultant speed determined by the FSB of the chipset.
On a brighter note though, you are very lucky to get 285fsb compared to my m8's CPU which he can only get 250fsb with, at a 14X multiplier. My 3.2 does 256FSB at 16X which slaps this baby at exactly 4.1Ghz, on Air! Not happy at chucking 1.55V at it tbh, but then hopefully, Hipro5's MAXIMISER will stop the Vcore Droop & give me a little more! Whilst shouting here, I got 2 x 1Gb PC 3200 ram running at 256FSB 1:1 with 2.75V & 3-3-7 timings at CAS 3. That is just bloody awesome considering I paid £40.00 a stick brand new! :D
Even if you ran the bios through a Bios Editor, I'm not sure that there would be ANY voltages available over 1.65v because the 3.4 core appears to be very different from the slower Prescotts. As I said earlier, unless you are using some serious Phase exchange cooling, FORGET using more than 1.55 volts anyway as you are probably going to burn out the CPU. :stick:
EDIT* Your English is far better than my Spanish, as I dont know any Spanish at all. I hope you can understand what I have tried to explain to you here & I'm poking you with a Stick to listen SERIOUSLY about OVER-VOLTING the Prescott. Its a very HOT Core by default, untill you hit the the J series of Socket 775 CPU's. Please be vey carefull or it will all end in tears & a Dead CPU.

Added option for "odd divisor correct" removed write cas latency (fixed at 1)
Added hidden options for VE and EX Vdimm to over 4V and chipset to 2V
Relaxed all timings as per BTA bios files for ease at boot, CPC2T etc, should be boot friendly with most dimms.

TRAS may report 0 on reboot, set optimised defaults and reboot back to bios and it should set 8.

I have the Venus loaded here and its clocking real nice, remember this is 3rd party so no warranty off me, DFI or OCZ, use at your own risk.

Tony, since you're the only one I can ask regarding this...

I have a question regarding latest beta (3/29) from Oscar for DFI NF4 Ultra-D/SLi/SLi-DR... Do you have any idea why div150 is not selectable in BIOS anymore with Opteron 146 and multi x10? It's just funny how it's there in 6/23, then not in 7/04, then back again in 11/14 and again, not in 3/29

I'm taking advantage of you appearing in this thread once in a while... :D

BTW, thanks for another modded BIOS, although I have not used any of them :D :p:

I want to add a question to the one of bachus

what is the FSB KeyIN option in the 3/29 BIOS?
9. Change FSB option to keyIn method.

and how does it work? is it a hotkey to set a different FSB?

this just means that you can enter a number to set the FSB instead of having to cycle through all the values to get to the one you want

Two questions, what exactly is the odd divisor correct, not sure its what i think it is?

And for the dram drive strength they are listed as "weak" and "normal" but then there is one that is "level 7"?

Level 7 is Weak 4, i have corrected this

Key in method is so you key in the fsb you want and it will show this, remember to have key lock engaged on your keyboard.

150 divider, seems to be CPU related I think, i will look into it.

Remember the registers that were reserved for 150 may be used on some CPU's for the new upclock ratio's now

Remember the I/O chip handles these options and it only has a fixed amount of registers it can tweak per the voltage regulator that is used ont he board. Only a vdimm mod will get you whaat you need.

I have a P4P800 motherboard and I would like to mod my bios for allowing me to use smaller vcore for my P4 2.4c (1V or below). I want to make a silent pc and decreasing vcore (in combination with smaller FSB) would allow passive cooling). The bios can be found at http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/p4p800/P4P81019.zip . I opened my bios with AMIBCP 2.25 beta and I saw that there are strings even for 0.835V, but I have no idea how to modify the bios.

So basically it allows you to further tweak the divider you use?

Sorry im not the sharpest tool in the shed.:D

Any example would really help and be much appreciated.

I corrects the rounding off of the ratio's you have to use to work out your ram speed. It seems to go to the oposite ratio next instead of theusual one it uses which is usually the next ratio up.

We found from tests it is like the 180 mode if running 200fsb, BUT from running a 250 ratio it seems to drop you inbetween the 250 and the 233

How "early" must be the bios? The first bios version I can find on Asus site is 1009, and I still can't use lower vcore. Also, my motherboard came with version 1012. Is it safe to put something much "early"?

Tony, I want to take this time to thank you. I have been reading this forum for a few days and had actually downloaded all 3 versions of the 406BTA bios but never did give you a thanks. I finally flashed it yesterday. I had a hard time posting but finally got it going after a CMOS clear. I really don't see any change from any other bios on my system but I do thank you for your time and effort. It isn't doing any harm so I am going to keep it on my Ultra-D. I am using an even divider so can't even fool with the new divisor option but we will see what happens when I get my 2GB PC4000 EB Plat kit next week. Thanks again.

Relaxed timings, 2T at default and pretty boot friendly, tweak it for speed as usual.

Tony, have you reworked any Epox bioses? I have a 9NPA+ Sli that is lacking a couple of settings compared to my DFI Ultra-D.

Is it possible to add a 180/200 memory divider. There is nothing between 166/200 and 200/200.

Also, can a Tref value of 1.95 be added. Currently there is 15.6, 7.8, and 3.9 only. Thanks...

Untweaked 037 bios for the DFI CFX3200, be sure to set MAL and RP manually to at least 5.5 and 7 once its flashed and you must manually set TREF also, do NOT leave it at AUTO.

Vdimm options are limited to what the board is capable of producing which depends on the components on the board, not just a bios mod.

I mean like more choices for the low volts. Not necessarily higher..

LIke right now I have 4 options for the volts from 2.55-2.85.. Maybe 10 choices in same volt range???

Google for BigToe's PAT hack....all the info is out there for the PAT part of your request.

Tried that... But that killed my bios :( So, I was hoping for maybe a modded bios will do the trick :)

I don't really understand what means the "odd divisor correct" on the last modded bios for DFI Expert!
when set, my bandwith is about 7110 mb/s on sandra 2005 and when off, it gives me 7600 mb/s

but i'm still synchrone : 275*11 on my opty 148 and ram at 275

the latest version of cpu-z 1.33.1 gives my memeory frequency at 252 when the odd divisor correct is set....

Guys i need new bios for my old Abit BH7. Anyone has some? I need some dividers, cos i went to a 800 FSB CPU and can't go with it past 215 cos of my memory. OCZ performance :( is not so good.

All dividers i have are 1:1 3:4 and 4:5. I need one with 4:3 or 5:4, something to allow me go high FSB lower DDR frequency.

Thanks alot. This board is wicked sick. I ran before a Pentium4 2Ghz at 3,3 stable one year by now. Changed it cos this new one has HT, which improves the performances quite well.

Please help me with some link for new bios.

What is the best bios for DFI LP NF4 SLI Expert with Crucial Ballistix mems?
I'm working on last release from DFI and I reached 265MHz 3-3-3-8. Everything is seams to be stable but I faced with 3D mode problem when PC hanged up while running 3D applications (Games, marks, etc.). Setting of driver level = 7\1 helps to pass 3DMakr2005 but still impossible to pass 3DMark2003. Today I will try to release timings a little. So I'm looking for more stable BIOS.
