Im installing my i7 and it seems like its taking A LOT of pressure to close the bracket lever over the CPU. Is this normal? I dont remember this much pressure needed on my last build.
Thanks

Soooo what am I doing wrong?
Or are you just messing with me?
Maybe im being to scared, lol I get nervous with the CPU, so I might be making to much of the pressure.

Well, some sockets give you too much pressure to close it, some less pressure. If you are still not sure, maybe just take a picture of it and we will see.

Picture.
I took this just as the pole braces against the bracket.

Is the CPU in the socket position properly? If so, then go ahead and close it. Do not be scared. :)

yep, only one way for it to be in there, otherwise the CPU would sit too high and the bracket would not get as far as it is in the picture.
So you think im just making to much of the pressure?? lol I always have in the past. But this just felt differnt. But it has been almost 2 years since I last did this.

ok so I closed it. But OMG once I get like half way the rest feels SO freakin unnecessary! lol. There are no pins on the i7 or mobo socket with 1366 to bend though right?

A motherboard socket has the pins. They can be bent, but rare.

Typical of the socket 1366. Do not be afraid. All of us have gone ahead in preparing you for a safer and more enjoyable life. Close that lever and enjoy your brand new PC.

Its completely normal. It really depends on the motherboard but yes, your not doing anything wrong. Snap that :banana::banana::banana::banana: closed and get overclocking

it's normal, my asus gene II needed a lot of pressure, double checked orientation and placement but it was fine, just takes a lot because there's lots of pins ;)

Yeah.. back when lga775 was new I thought "man, that thing needs pressure to close" and lga1366 needs even more :D

I was in the same boat as you. I had an MSI Platinum X58 and it too took quite some pressure to close the lever.
