I need suggestions guys

My brother is running like a P4 2.4 with P4PB an PC2100 memory.

He wants to upgrade. I have an ASUS P4C800Deluxe (non -e) I can give him. So with overclocking in mind with stock retial heatsink what CPU and memory should I get him?

His PS is a 300w no name btw. And he needs 1Gb bc all he ever does is rip movies over and over and over. He has like 1000 or so :rolleyes:

Price range is like I dunno 500 or less

Oh and I do intend to overclock whatever it is b\c I bet it will end up being a 2.8 or below

if you intend to do much overclocking, you are almost definately gonna wanna get a new quality PSU, and a nice heatsink, you could check out some Corsair XMS LL ram or Kingston HyperX, its good ram and is cheaper than Mushkin. If you can afford it get Mushkin lvl2

I would say with the budget you've got to work with, upgrade his mobo with the one you're suggesting, get a better power supply (Antec, TTGI, or pc power and cooling), And for ram, I've always had great luck with Corsair XMS ram ( pc3500 should give him enough overclock to make that 2.4 scream). If you have any money left over, look into his vid card.
