I'm having some bother overclocking this board with q6600
i'm trying to get 3ghz stable (not a lot to ask)

i ran orthos 8hr with no errors but when i play a game it just resets!

It was fine with asus p5kc board but i got rid due to no raid support, also it was doing this with no sli just one card in and i can rule out the psu as i have just bought a new one.

drivers are also upto date and bios.

hardware:
mb: asus p5n-d
cpu: q6600 g0
ram: kingston hyper x 4x1gb 1066 5-5-5-15 2.2v
gpx: 2x 9800gtx+ sli 16/16
psu: corsair tx750w
os: xp sp3

oc setup is
3000mhz
fsb 1333 x 9
ddr 800 unlinked timing 5-5-5-15 2t
vcore 1.34375v (1.280v cpuid)
ht 1.32v
nb 1.38v
sb 1.54

All the mobo voltages started off at ht1.28v nb1.32v sb1.50v but i keep putting them up a bit hoping it will sort it also i had the memory at 4-4-4-15 2t

the temps are 30 idle 45 load and max 62 under full cpu stress with 2 instanses of orthos

Can anyone help me? this is driving me crazy random resets when im trying to play my games

Orthos is that orthos blend or small ? do you stress the 4 cores ? or just two ? what happens if you try with one Vidcard ? or just 2Gb's. Voltages look good, do you actively cool the NB ?

orthos blend with 2 running, 1 stressing the first 2 cores and the other stressing the other 2 with affinity's set in task manager. the motherboard came with a nb fan and it still hangs with one video card but i haven't tryed using just 2gb ram

woohoo i've fixed it! it wasn't my overclocking settings at all it was my crappy sound card i forgot to list in my hardware. i forgot all about it, its on a pci-e connection and uses same bus as the graphics card.

damn creative x-fi the trouble that thing has caused me i feel like using it as a frisby and flinging it off my balcony

thanks for everyones help and interest in my thread i'm off to play some games now
