Wotcha... just need a quick favor from anyone with a dead 9700 or 9800 that they've resided to being terminally screwed...
I need a component!!
Near the ram chips on the reverse side of the card are some small black 8-legged chips with 560 or 095 (depends which way up is the right way up!) printed on top... I need ONE of em!
If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated!

Are those the chips that are on the back of a 9700p (under the aluminum plate) and on the front of a 9800p under a small heatsink??
LOL, I tried to replace one and my 9800p started on fire. If you need another component please post a picture, I have a few dead cards here and probably have what you need.

Nah, it ain't oneof those.... it's a small black thang beside the ramchips... there's loads of em on the 9700 Pros... looks like the black chips atop the athlon XP CPUs... the ones at the bottom of the L12 & L5 bridges... can't get a pic as we've lost the memory stick for the digicam

see if you can find a picture of it from one of the many card pictures floating around on the net, and then just circle it.

As it sez.... the value of the component is different, i think mainly due to the fact that this is a 9800Pro.... I'll get Marc to post up the actual value 2moro

Ive got some from motherboards, but I think they are slightly too large.
As you dont want to cause a short you will need the exact right bit.... (I may be able to botch it, but it wouldnt be pretty)
