Damn if I only had the money...

pcdoc1, why 2.8? That chip has a multi that is bad for air and supercooling.

The original post by Iridium192_217 was looking for the Z5 (2.8) not a Z3 (2.4).......

I'm looking forward to a 2.6 m0 'cause I'd like to have a small bump with the multiplier. Also there could be a good argument made that with the new steppings, a 2.8 may easily do 3.6 to 3.7. If that's the case, then with good memory you could run those kinda clocks 1:1...........

No you still won't run 1:1, thats asking too much of your memory. You would need to go 3.0 to do that. I prefer the 2.4 if you have high vdimm available and the 2.6 if you don't or are supercooling.

To run at 3.6:

2.4 = 300x12 = 240 mem speed
2.6 = 277x13 = 221 mem speed
2.8 = 257x14 = 205 mem speed

The 14 multi is too high to run 1:1 and too low to run 5:4.

I've got some OCZ 4000EL Golds right now that run DDR 530. Unless there's something wrong with my math, 257 X 2 = DDR 514....... Looks like 1:1 to me. 257 X 14 = 3.598

Here is the title of the thread: "any place shipping sl6zX chips?"

And a SL6Z3 is a subset of the SL6ZX....soooooo....without TOO MUCH FARKING THOUGHT (and this is for every dip$hit would said...he wants a 2.8)....I ANSWERED THE DAMN QUESTION.

Flaming is not allowed at Xtremesystems....I just finished your first Offical Warning for posting outside the classies. Guess I missed this one.Looks like you are on a roll for someone with such a low post countTheDude

climbski - I'm running the same config. as you. That doesn't mean that everyone with a different approach isn't "too bright". I don't see a reason for an attack! Chill..........

Perhaps I should have been a bit more clear...These northwoods all seem to have about the same ceiling which is approx 3.6ghz on air depending on luck..yes the SL6Z3s and likely the Z5s usually get 3.6ghz perhaps the Z5 will get avg 3.7 who knows..but in any case the speed is being wasted by the higher multiplier.

Hmm, that's pretty expensive for a 2.4 even if it is an sl6z3. Thanks for the link though, I may yet still get one.

*edit* LOL, just read this "Before anyone gripes about the price, our distributor sold us these well over what "others" are selling the other P4C's for. We bought all they had for our combo's and our online customers."
