OK! I have a compaq presario 2700 laptop, its a PIII mobile 1000Mhz CPU, I wanted to try an OC the cpu, so I opened the thing, took it apart and found the pll chip. I then proceeded to install cpufsb but found that it didn't have the pll chip in its list of supported plls. I then installed softfsb with no luck again! Can someone tell me if there is any software out there that supports the following pll? ics950805ag.
Thanks in advance!

www.cpuid.com/clockgen maybe but I doubt it.

Some time ago I searched for overclocking my laptop, I found very little about it, only found one Italian guy that was able to do it by cutting traces in the motherboard (no really sure if it was true only some pictues that could have been easily photochopped). The overclocking was really low and completely unstable. Laptops motherboards are really special and completely overclocking unfriendly.

Your probably not going to have much luck finding recent software to support your PLL, however you could email the author of SpeedFan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) and ask if it would be possible to add support for your application..... You may get lucky.

amd laptops are great for ocing! just mod the pins or bridges to get higher volts/multis/fsb :)
my mom just bought one a couple of days ago :D

afaik powerstrip supports the mobile video chipsets as well...
if that doesnt work just hack the registry or the drivers and change the clockspeed values ;)
well about the cpu, it depends if you mainboard has a dtr (desktop replacement) or a "real" mobile xp. diferent packaging... the dtr is a normal xp with bridges that can be modded, the small packaged mobile xps need to be modded via the pins.
(you might have to disable the powernow by modding the bridges as well so the cpu doesnt act weird and changes clockspeeds to too high or low numbers wich could make your notebook crash)
fsb ocing doesnt work very well on notebooks afaik since the memory doesnt oc very well and mostly because the chipsets are pretty maxed out, so the best way to oc it would be to set the multis higher. you can also try to pinmod it to 166fsb, but i dont know if itll be stable, or if it will work at all.
i will play with my moms notebook this weekend :D i hope its an amd notebook...

I oc'ed my old Sony-Laptop's video card with speedstrip :)
But it was only about 10 additional MHz on core and ram, I never tried more as I was afraid of killing it. And I hope everyone knows what RMA'in a Sony laptop costs
btw. vid card was some mobile radeon-d or something like that

I had a compaq that would OC using setfsb. Pentium 3 based. But even if you do OC it. Memory speeds are always crap on older laptops, you dont see much return.
