Does anyone have any proof that ramzinks on the mem works or is it just for the good looks? can I actually get more mhz on my memoryspeed with ramzinks on? have anyone comparred 9800pro against 9800xt same clock and settings in 3dmark2001? any favor for 9800xt?

Couldn't hurt :D
I'm at 451 @ 2.94V, maybe HS would help...

At high speeds im sure they would help a little with a fan blowing over them to disappate the heat.

have read so many different oppinions some say that they doesnt do ยงยงยงยง and others claim that they help a lot Charlie do you have zinks or do you have dryice on them?

i think it's gonna help 3-15 mhz. ANd keep it coooler

Are you saying that you are running your XT memory voltmodded with any cooling on them...!?!?!?!?

ARE YOU INSANE...?!?!?!?!? :slobber:

They don't get hot!!! And remember my PCB is COLD!!!!

Got to be the PCB that does it then...because mine gets awfuly hot...even att default speed.

In his case, he shouldn't need them considering his entire card feels the breeze of that chiller (with the head at -40c im sure his ram, inches away at least feels some of that).

But on a normal aircooled card you would probably see a few more mhz, or at least a higher artifacting point if you used some good ramsinks with a fan blowing over them.

I am getting something made "locally" here in Japan. Watercooling part. The cover both the front and back of an XT card; also on the ram.

They are costly about 150 USD... but I need to get myself some rams first...

Hey guys, i was wondering if i had ramsinks and i wanted to use thermal paste in the center between the mem. and ramsink, what type of glue should i use to hold the sinks in place?

I dont wanna use the thermal tape provided.

Regular superglue, TINY TINY TINY amount in all four corners. Should be easily removable, come RMA rime. :D :p:

tiny bit of superglue, maybe some of that modeling glue (yea, i know its not ment for metal-plastic, but you're not going to be pulling and this things around) you really just need something to hold the heatsinks in place, as most of the time the thermal paste will form a bit of a suction. If you have thermal epoxy you could mix that with paste, so that its non permanent, but will stll hold.

Mine to:D

now 454 at 3.18 volt.

The mem-chips are about 10 C. The Prommy on the GRU (-35 at load) cooling the bord.

FUGGER have a picture of a dollar-bill and a coolinghead covering the GRU and the mem. That meen minus-degree on the mem!

That might be god to pass 560?

How in h..... can you get 454mhz out of the memory whats the secret? ;-)

Attach promi to vid-card... laws of thermodynamics means that the extreme cold will be conducted thru the card.... therefore cooling more than just the GPU. Therefore, ram is bloody cold...

Guys that have phase change gear on the vid card would lose performance with sinks and a fan. The warmer air blowing over the sinks would in fact heat the memory chips a bit.

But I'd guess that those OCZ copper skived fin BGA ramsinks with a fan as blower in the side of the case would help for better more stable performance at minimum, and extend the life of a O/Ced card a bit, and if you're in luck you'll pick up another 5-10mhz.

When I put my R404 on the GRU later this year (when my new CPU cooler is done) I wil have condens (or ice) on the ram.
Then I must but insulation over the ram:slobber: :D

No matter how you cool the ram it wont improve your overclock. Bowman went as far as to freeze ( :O ) everychip but no help there

This is not entirely accurate - if you are running at default VDDR, then cooling will make little (if any) difference. However, you can bet that 3.5v would heat them up pretty darn fast, and you would benefit GREATLY from cooling.

Crash - that is false, but only in the way you stated it.

If you are running default volts and cooling, then adding memsinks may be good for 0-5mhz depending on airflow, ram temp, ram voltage, etc...

If you volt mod your ram and are not running a prommy the memsinks may allow for more because the ram will not get quite as hot as if they were vmodded and running naked.
