Doesn't theese scores seem a bit off? 6300 points with...

Hi!!

I am getting 6300 points in 3D mark 2001 now, but i used to be getting over 10,000 if i recall correctly before with the same rig. I have a very fresh install of windows, and NO crap files on my harddrive. I'm a pedant so no spywarez or unused files, only stuff i know what it is and which i use.

My rig is:

Asus A7V8X Deluxe
Athlon 2400+ XP @ 2150 MHz
Geeforce 4 MX 400 @ 300MHz engine clock/400 memory clock
Kingston PC3200 DDR 512 (no idea about timings etc, how do i even check those)?


I'm almost sure i was getting past 10k before, but now it performs really poor. What can i do, please help me!

Check to see if AGP is working properly. If not install chipset drivers.

I'm a complete newbie, well, almost, how do i "check the AGP".

Well, make sure you have all of the latest drivers, directx, mobo drivers installed. That should help. Also, you just did a fresh install of what OS? What OS were you using when you think you got 10k? A different OS will yield different results.

I used Win XP both times. I dont have any other OS :stick:

While there are systems out there that can hit 10k with a GF4 MX yours is not one of them unless you have some crazy clocks from your CPU and motherboard.

I needed my MX440 @ 444 MHz GPU and 732 MHz memory with a P4 @ 3.3 GHz to break 10k a while back.

Allright, thanks! I didn't break 10k then, but i certanly did get higher scores then 6300. Thats for sure, or am i mixing up these scores with my other rig?

Thanks for setting things straight. Though, i still want higher scores without spending cash :/

You can see your current AGP rate in your 3DMark compare link or by getting coolbits, it will show up in your display drivers properties.

Often times AGP is disabled until you install your chipset software.
