Well currently I have a Viewsonic VX2025WM (20.1"). I really like the monitor a lot, although it is getting old (had it for around 3 years now). I'm looking for something around 24-27" which can serve as a TV also (I want to hook up my PS2 to it). Suggestions would be appreciated, I have no clue what to look for when it comes to monitors, so anyone with some knowledge that could help me out would be nice. It doesn't have to have TV inputs that is just a bonus for me (I just want to get my PS2 out of the living room so I can be lazier).
thanks

What PC games do you play? If you're into hardcore twitch FPS like CS:S or Quake III, the commonly given advice will be look for a TN panel, as these have slightly inferior colours but an improved response time (time between the electrical signal being sent to the pixel to change colour and that pixel actually doing so). Panels with very poor response time will feel "laggy", as the displayed image can be many milliseconds behind what the game engine is rendering.
However, I'm using a Dell 2408WFP, which is an S-PVA panel. S-PVA panels have greatly improved viewing angles and better and more accurate colour reproduction, but can have problems with ghosting and poor response times. In my experience, though, I haven't come across any issues - even when doing a side-by-side comparison with an old CRT monitor, which will have a near-instantaneous response time. The 2408WFP also has every input under the sun - VGA, DVI, HDMI, component, S-Video, DisplayPort, composite - and a USB hub inbuilt, which is fantastic as it reduces desktop clutter.
How did you want to connect up your PS2?

S-Video, or Component, not sure if HDMI cables are available for PS2.
I play games COD4, WoW, CS:S, that's about it at the moment.

Depends on the budget more so than anything else.
TN panels are much cheaper and generally perfect for gaming.
Other panels are more expensive and more suited to multimedia/photo editing and so on. I cant justify the cost of the two (around $400 AUD on average), TN panels worked fine for me.
Im using a BenQ G2400W (24") and its awesome, i paid $300 AUD for it and i couldn't be happier to be honest. Glad i didn't spend more. I had a 22" BenQ before that 16:9, but it just wasn't big enough hehe

You want an H-IPS.
I have a planar 2611W that I calibrated and it is very sweet. Not too much lag, high gamut, great colors, angles, etc. I got a good price on eBay too :D
