I have a P4 3.0 C packaged in july of this year. Now i hooked it up to a mach 2and did it properly and my temps were very good. Now it just wouldn,t run stabily at any fsb from 200 to 268 mhz. kept crashing and doing very strange things. Somewere around this forum i have read that some 3.0 don,t like sub zero temperatures. Is this so and how would i rma it or is it best to just sell it and buy a 3.2

How does it run on air?

I don,t seem to have any problems on air It,ll run stabily up to 3.6 with decent temperatures and at 1.625 volts. Today its running fine again and it did for a month or so until i put a Mach II on it.I,m back on air cooling. But i have never heard of a cpu not liking the cold and how would you rma something like that if thats the case because the store i bought it from will tell me to take a hike.

I had this same problem. I bought a new Abit IC7 and a 2,8c and the 2,8c wouldnt run with the mach2 PERIOD!! i tried reseating and had the PC down in bits and pieces like 25 times one weekend and then i bought a 2,4 and then BANG it works... so some cpus doenst like the cold i guess altough it seems strange...

Yes i would like to buy more chips but the3.0 i think is still over 500 and ther 3.2 is over 800 cdn $ so just buying chips can get pretty expensive. What do i do with this chip i don,t think intel will take it back and the retailer will laugh and say sorry. I guess i,ll leave the prommie on the floor until i upgrade because everything i,ve got is almost brand new. What a waste of money but i guess everyone has their computer horror storys. Thanks guys going to bed discouraged by all this . Now i have to send the display for mach to denmark because it was doa and retailer won,t anser e mails. thats another story.

Sorry to hear this m8. As it was said before...some chip just don´t like subzero.
This is the down side with Intel...if you get a chip that don´t follow up to your expectations then it´s a pain in the a$$ to get e new because of the prize.
I went thorugh 4 C chips before I managed to reach 4ghz stable...it has costed me a lot of money.

But I guess this how it is...when your hunting for it... :)

My advise would be...trie to sell the chip when it´s still new...and get another one.
