Hey,

I'm upgrading my girlfriend's computer and I wanted to know if it would be better to upgrade to system to vista from XP before I change the hardware. I am upgrading everything except the HDD and since this is a Dell, the OS is synced with the hardware. Would it be better to up it to Vista then replace the hardware, or save all of the information, replace the hardware, then install vista after a HDD reformat?

Thanks!

Upgrade the system hardware first then install Vista or XP or even Windows 7 after on a formatted HDD.
Hope I helped

EDIT: Also if you have stuff on that system you still need don't forget to back it up before you start.

I would skip Vista if you can. :) Go straight to Windows 7 if possible.

Forget Vista.

Vista=FAIL

Go for Windows 7. The current RC is available to anyone with a Hotmail account and it doesn't expire until Augest 2010 at which point you can buy an OEM of Windows 7.
