I think my blind arse just may have fried my Asus K8V-D. I think by poking around trying to measure voltage on my vdimm mod with the multimeter (need I say without my glasses on), I may have shorted something out  . I'm not able to even post anymore.
So..... Now that I have the chance to pick a motherboard again, I thought I may as well ask you kind folks what you recommend?

If you dare to attempt to fix yours and need parts, I have a dead K8V-D sitting here. Worked fine until I lost some components between the clock generator and dimm slot 3 (I think I got a drip of condensation there).
Conversely, if you are just going to throw out your dead K8V-D, I'll gladly take it for parts.
Does anything smell smoked? Sniff around on the PCB and see if you can find the chip that smells like it got fried.
The big boys at the top of the ORB seem to be having good luck with the Gigabyte and Chaintech NF3 boards. I have a gigabyte NF3 waiting for me at home but I'm afriad that when my K8V-D died, it took out the cpu with it.

Well, I sure as hell hope my CPU didn't die... I really think it is the motherboard, and if it is the cpu, I have that covered also  ..
When I get my new mobo, I would gladly send you this one..
btw, I didn't really smell anything last night... But I really wasn't trying to smell for anything.
