Sampsa, Kinc, K|ngp|n and tons of people have bought Phenom II 955 rigs and have found making it stable at 4Ghz and beyond to be very enjoyable and rewarding experience.
I'd recommend it

Nah, if you have cash to burn then multi-socket systems is the way to go. Check out the new Xeon multi-CPU MB's - loads of cores, tonnes of RAM. Great for crunching ......

Get some cheap hardware and bench it on DICE till it dies/gets you HW points.
At least that's my plan for the holiday :d

Been there, done that.
Oh boy, is it already 2009? :P
Honestly, I've been wow-clean since november 2008 and I still get urges. It took me a while to get "off" of D2: LoD as well... Damn you Blizzard ;)

cheap hardware and build a pc in mineral water

The PC in a fish tank is in the pipe line, just cant get the mineral oil here at a cheap price. If you tried using mineral water the PSU would stop working! I am in a school so Dry Ice will be easy to obtain!
Theres just nothing new to get excited about at the moment! Most excitement I am going to get is deciding between a Q8400 or Q9400 for the wife's new PC!

hmm i know... how about following up on that e8700 you proposed? or at least find out why they said they'd be getting some even though clearly it doesn't even exist right now. i'm just sill hoping that one day the rumored e8700 would just hit the shelves lol
