View Full Version : Voltage tuner + Red Light GTX 295, OVP Protection or PSU?

Trying to figure this out before I order a new PSU, just got a GTX 295 and with the voltage tuner set anywhere above 1.25 I get a red light on the 295 and the card shuts down and requires a hard reset.

Temps are fine i'm on water don't think temps have ever gone over 50c however temps on vrm's are strange they bounce from normal reading of 36, 37 and 38 degrees instantly up to 63 in GPU-Z and it's always 63 never 64 never 65 always exactly 63 and doesn't matter if theres a load on the card or not, still does it although seems more frequent with a load.

Other strange thing is the card is really noisy, this is why I was thinking maybe it's the PSU. I'm using an Ultra X3 1000 one of the older ones with single 70a 12v rail but its a couple years old so I thought maybe it's failing because the card buzzes and squeals like no tommorow when running vantage but it doesn't seem to matter the voltage/overclock it does it just the same regardless.

The memory on the card clocks nice have it up to 1270 stable and got clocks up to 783mhz core but can only get to 1720 shaders and I start to get graphic corruption at these speeds, more voltage seems to help get rid of the corruption but then the card red lights and shuts down.

Trying to figure out if new PSU will help before ordering one or if it's something else. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

The higher you go on the MEM the harder GPU and Shader can be :)

Dont recall what the red flash indicates.
But 1.25 On air, does it even scale for you from 1.185-1.25 ?
