I am keep thinking this over and over... I want to build a sub 600 euro system but i can't decide:
Option 1:
Cpu -> Intel Q9400 - stock intel cooler - 189 Euro
Mb -> Asus P5Q-SE - 90 Euro
Mem -> Adata 2 Gb DDR2 1066 G series- 25 Euro
Gpu -> Sapphire 4870 -> 160 Euro
PSU -> Chieftec 650W - 84 Euro
Optical drive - > LG sata dvdrw -> 18 Euro
Hdd -> Seagate sata II 320gb -> I Own one of those already
case -> midi case -> I Own one of those already
565 Euro .. The rest 35 euro goes to 12" fans...
Option 2:
Cpu -> Amd X2 550- stock amd cooler - 104 Euro
Mb -> Asus M4A78T-E -> 134 Euro
Mem -> Adata 2 Gb DDR3 1333 - 31 Euro
Gpu -> Sapphire 4890 -> 190 Euro
PSU -> Chieftec 650W - 84 Euro
Optical drive - > LG sata dvdrw -> 18 Euro
Hdd -> Seagate sata II 320gb -> I Own one of those already
case -> midi case -> I Own one of those already
560 Euro .. The rest 40 euro goes to 12" fans...
I am going to keep the build for more than 3-4 years
Which would you choose ?? the dead 775 or the Am3 ??

Well, it depends what you want to use the PC for.
I mean, you could go for a cheaper AMD board and spend more on the cpu if you wanted, but I would go for the AMD hands down.

I guess you are suggesting something like this
ECS A790GXM-AD3 -> 100 Euro
AMD Phenom II X3 720 -> 125 Euro

why not change the 550 to a 720 they are $10 different, and the x2 has a huge chance of a dead core instead of needing more voltage to unlock
and ecs is bad, look at the msi 790GX its cheap

There seems to be a gap in your two options.
If you are choosing between two platform, only the motherboard, processor and sometimes the memory will be different. So there is no reason why you should have a 4890 in the 2nd option and a 4870 in the first option, making the 775 option cheaper by 30 Euros for no apparent reason. The real cost with the 4890 in the 775 rig comes to 595 Euros.
Secondly, as zanzabar said, I'd recommend a few more euros for the Phenom II 720 BE and clock it to 3.8-3.9Ghz 24/7. The DDR3 motherboard should allow you to drop in newer AM3 CPUs in 2010 without having to change to another platform. Also, spend 10 Euros more and get some DDR3 1600 8-8-8.
HD 4890 + 720 BE @ 3.8Ghz = 1920x1200 pwnage.

I don't quite understand why you go for a single slot PCIE intel motherboard and a dual slot PCIE AMD board.
and $84 euro for a PSU is kinda expensive compared to what we can get in north america :(
Why not go a single slot PCIE AMD board, a 550W psu and put the money for a tri or quad?

my thoughts EXACTLY!
I definitely went AMD, simply so i can upgrade in a year or two, instead of every 3 months like i was before I needed a new car.

Enermax EPR525AWT PRO82 PSU (525W) is it enough to power HD 4890 + 720 BE @ 3.8Ghz ???

That should be fine.

Hey i finally decided so i ordered
Cpu -> Amd X3 720- stock amd cooler ( i heard they O/C pretty easy)
Mb -> Asus M4A78T-E ( i like Asus.. try to killl couple of those and i fail)
Mem -> Gskill 4Gb DDR3 8-8-8-21
Gpu -> Palit GTX 275 896mb (that was last second decision making)
PSU -> OCZ 600W modular (more watts just to be sure)
Optical drive - > LG sata dvdrw (just something to read and write)
So I went for the Nvidia instend of the ATI because they cost about the same (ATI 189 euros Nvidia 198)) and i heard that Nvidia is a little bit more quite and need less power when idle ...I hope i made the right choice..

That rig looks awesome :up:
With reference cards, it comes down to whether you like ATI or Nvidia and in this case the GTX 275 is a good choice too.
It's with the 1Ghz 4890s that the 4890 leaves the 275 behind and starts beating the 285 where you should really ATI.
But very good choices nonetheless :D

Thank you all ,for your time.. Lets hope that AMD will keep that AM3 socket for more than one year ...

you shoulda got the 4890 1ghz instead in my opinion

well one thing youve done by going with an NV card is completely buggered yourself out of going dual card in the future. - that said savings on the video card by going for a 4890 wouldve gotten you a higher wattage PSU I imagine....

Dual cards????To much power for me.. i do not really need so much power.. remember i still run a northy and a agp 9600 (non pro:rolleyes:) ..

ah well then a single card will be fine and you can just go with ati if you ever get a bigger display :)

damn... problem with the stuff i ordered (not a good start).. no available PSU & ram
so i went for Enermax EPR525AWT PRO82 PSU (525W) and Corsair 4GB DDR3-1333 Ram Kit (2 x 2GB, PC3 10666, 9-9-9-24, TW3X4G1333C9DHX) which i think is better (2 sticks is less stressfull for the memmory controller , right? )
