Ok, I have an A64-3200 and a Gigabyte K8N PRO. This thing will run absolutely rock solid at about 2,271-2,280mhz. If I get it up to 2,290+ it will basically just hard lock. I don't think it's a memory issue because I can run at 9.5X239 CAS 2 all day but it will freeze at 10X230. LDT is set to 2.5 and again, it will run as high as 266FSB with an 8.5 multiplier so I don't think it is related to bus speeds. I did the volt mod and at 1.7 volts the results are the same as at 1.55.

The only thing I can think is it's the PSU. MBM is reporting my 12 volt rail at 11.97-12.03 and my 3.3 volt rail at 3.124 but the 5 volt rail is fluctuating from as low as 4.0 to as high as 5.8.

Does that sound screwy to anyone here? Could that cause the Overclocking problem I am having? I'm tempted to get a TTGI 520 with adjustable POTs but I don't want to drop the cash only to have the same problems because generally this has been an excellent PSU for me over the last 2 years.

EDIT: Those voltages are at idle, I didn't get a chance to check them under load but I imagine they would go down some.

Thanks in advance,

Warden

Cooling? If you are using aircooling you might be at the limit of the cpu.

Otherwise it sounds like a psu issue. Especially if your +5v is going all the way down to 4.0v, although these boards should be generating most of their voltages off the 12v rail I thought.

The TTGI psu's are great, I love my 500w unit.

I initially thought cooling but the fact that I can run Benchmarks or play UT 2003 for hours at one speed but can't even boot at the next speed lead me to believe it was not a heat issue. Also, with absolutely no case fan running the thing is 100% stable while gaming but bump the overall CPU speed up 10-20mhz and even with a 240 CFM, 6" fan blowing right on it (for testing) I got the same result.

Just ordered the 520 TTGI PSU for $88 from Directron. Should have it in afew days and we'll see if that has been the problem.
